In what looks like another effort to boost profits in a sagging economy, the Walt Disney Company signed a distribution deal with the Government-owned free-to-air broadcaster, Television New Zealand Ltd. on Wednesday. The deal will give TVNZ access to recently released U.S. films and television series.

This deal will give Disney an outlet for films, such as "Signs," and their original television series, like "8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter," bringing in needed revenue which may help pay for shows like "Monk" and the deal with HBO for the development of new series.

The agreement was made by Disney's distribution arm, Buena Vista International Television Asia Pacific, and was announced in Cannes at an international television marketing conference.
