New Yorkers Beware...Mickey is coming to town! June 17th, 2012 Canada Cruise

What type of room did you get on your Alaska cruise? I would like to do the Med cruise someday too.

We were supposed to have a navigators veranda but we ended up moving our room to the hidden veranda room, so it was in the same price range but we had a better room. We're getting the same room for this cruise too cause we liked it so much.

I would highly recommend a veranda or at least a porthole for the Alaska cruise. There are so many pretty things to see outside and if you go up to the top decks it gets extremely crowded and it's hard to take good pictures. The day we went through Tracy Arm I just stayed out on my veranda taking pictures for probably an hour or so and that way I never had to deal with all the people on deck crowded around the rails.

I talked to DH, I think I am going to bite the bullet and splurge. Does your room have the white wall? I definitely don't want the Navigator one. If you have had the white wall in the past do you mind? Should I just go for the plexiglass one so that I can sit and see everything? What is your cabin #.

I feel like our NY cruise is really almost here. I just put our mail on hold and called the credit card companies to say that we are traveling. I have to get back to working on FE inbetween doing progress reports.

My room has the plexiglass, I haven't been in a room with the white walls so I don't know how good those are. My room number is 7120 and the other 4 rooms with secret verandas are 7620, 6134 & 6634. I really like the room and it saves a little money.

Hi Jlawall! Just to confirm, your party is Jlawall and Albil, each in your own room, and your young adults are either not with you this time or not in FE - did I get that right??!!!
WE'RE ALMOST THERE:woohoo:!!!!!!

Because life isn't busy enough right now, getting ready to leave and getting the kids ready for a summer in the States (did I mention that, we are leaving the kids in NJ with my parents after the cruise?!), and the FE stuff, and finishing things at work before vacation - I had to go and have some minor surgery on Monday:crazy2:! It was supposed to happen in July but then they bumped me up on the schedule - which I had asked for, but so close to the trip:eek:? Really? I'm sore but fine and hope that in the next day or two I'll have my energy back so that I can finish all the "stuff"!! Never a dull moment, right?

Hope you're back to feeling fully well soon - at least you have the surgery over now and don't have that to think about on vacation!

Finally started to get serious on our FE gifts this week now that my kids and I are out of school. Can't wait for June 17 to arrive!

We have main seating for the cruise - anyone else? I am concerned about making it to the dining room on the first evening. Have read on other threads that it will take 30 - 45 minutes to get past the Statue of Liberty. That is a MUST see for my family - as well as the bridge that follows. Hoping we can see all the sights and still make it to dinner but if not - dinner will have to be a pass that first night. One of the many reasons we decided to book this cruise was sailing past the Statue of Liberty!

We also have main seating and I'm going to see the Statue of Liberty so if we have to, we'll miss dinner the first night (but I hope not).

Hopefully we'll have some trip reports pretty soon from this first cruise to see how that worked out.

Busy here. Tomorrow is the last day for students, and then Friday I will be done as well. Working as much as possible on FE gifts. Yesterday went to Hobby Lobby and bought fabric. My grandmother is going to make my daughter and I matching pirate costumes!

Hope you're feeling better :flower3: I'm having a minor surgical procedure on 6/4 so I get to start my vacation early  My MD did not want me to wait until after the cruise so she "bumped" another case to squeeze me in :rolleyes1 before our cruise

We have first dinner too. Oh, I didn't even think about missing the Statue of Liberty. Hmmmm, I will have to think about this.

I'm worried about this also. I'm NOT missing the SOL. If it were just my family we'd skip dinner the first night, but my in-laws are with us and they've never cruised so I feel badly that they might miss dinner. (and honestly, they'd rather go to dinner)

Really fretting over this. And the fact that we're leaving 2 weeks from tomorrow :scared1:
