New Yorkers Beware...Mickey is coming to town! June 17th, 2012 Canada Cruise

So I have been shopping and packing for this trip for months...I just opened up my suit case to take inventory and all I can say is OMG :scared1: I have definately overpacked! I bought enough outfits that I can change clothes every 3 hours and never have to wear the same outfit twice :rolleyes1

Oh but what fun that you have all those new outfits!!!!! :cloud9:

hi folks
just was watching magic leaving the harbor on the new york harbor webcam was amazing. magic des take a long time to give you plenty of kodak moments and camcorder i time it to be 5:30 statue of liberty so we must by 4:00 dress for dinner
and be ready to take pics and be ready fir dinner just have clothes ready shower and
out with camera so if you have 6:00 dinner you will be late by maybe 15 mins.not to bad
but worth the pictures to be taken.i live in new york so late is fashionable and they will
understand.i rather have early seating and then do shows and entertainment.

Thx for the update!!:wizard:

I'm actually taking the LIRR into Manhattan....then hopping into a cab to get to port :thumbsup2 it's a lot cheaper then driving in and paying to park and I rather spend my money on other things then parking :cool1:

We are too Britt. (Taking the LIRR) ....flying into ISLIP taking a shuttle to LIRR, but we are arriving a day early from our fantasy cruise.

ISLIP was wayyyyy cheaper than flying into NYor NJ. and we are comfortable with taking the public trans.

I cannot wait for the end of this week!!!!!:yay:
Cannot wait to meet all of you!

Just to let every one know I put the ages up for how old they were at the time I sent the message. There ages are now DS Matt 15 , DD Sarah 11, DD Olivia 9, DD Emma 6, DD Isabelle (Belle) going to be five in July, DD Ruth 2.

Olivia has the Gluten allergy.

Just updated this on the master list here as well. It'll be my next post.

Myself and my two daughters. 17 and 5. Also my daughters b.f.

Looking forward to a great trip!

I've added you guys to our master list as well. We'd love to meet you on the first day at our meet up!

I think I'm going to have the opposite problem as we are doing back to back cruises, I'm going to have to do laundry. :rotfl:

I watched it leave on the webcam as well. I also plan to be ready early. This will probably be our most casual dinner night (still in dresses/skirts, but not as dressy as other nights) so we can watch everything up until the last minute and then run to dinner.

Show Information (from BalooHoo)
The shows will be the same as the standard shows on the Magic: All Aboard! Let the Magic Begin! on the first night; Remember the Magic on the last night; and Twice Charmed, Villains Tonight and Disney Dreams on the other three nights (although the order is not yet set).

Night 1 - Rotational Menu
Night 2 - Semi-Formal Night
Night 3 - Rotational Menu
Night 4 - Pirate Night
Night 5 - Rotational Menu

Meeting Location

Helpful Tidbit of Information (from joius24)
On all of the cruises I've been on so far if you go to the spa and get a little orientation at the beginning of the cruise then you get a raffle ticket and they do a drawing for a bunch of different spa services at around 3:15 ....the catch is you must be there when they draw to win

The reports are coming in from this first NYC cruise. If you find anything out there that you think would be useful for all of us, please post here and I'll copy and paste it into the next big post. Then if anyone wants to, they can print that post before they leave.

When is the first Canadian cruise? Anyone know?

Man...that doesn't give us much time to get information. And I'm actually leaving the morning of the 15th to head to Dallas (where we are flying out of on the 16th). Off to see if hotel has free wifi so I can be online the night of the 15th scouring for information. :rotfl:

I'm late to this thread - VERY late despite our booking the cruise on the 1st day or two of bookings!

Anyway...we're in NNJ - we're parking at NY Waterway in Weehawken, taking the ferry and walking the few blocks.

Specifically, I'm wondering if anyone is traveling with an 8-10 yo DS that doesn't have a built in companion of similar age for the kids club? Our 9yo DS is refusing to get into the kids area (and this is our 7th DCL!) and i'm sure if we were able to hook him up w/ a specific kid or two or three once on board it would make a HUGE difference!

So....anyone? We're on Deck 7 #7065. Can't wait to cruise out of NY! We JUST MISSED the Magic on the Hudson yesterday...we were at Liberty State Park...waiting and waiting...finally decided to drive up to Weehawken and JUST missed it by minutes....couldn't find concrete info of what time it would have been by LSP! Now we know....

Regards,
Laura

A little confused about what's needed for identification.

The two times I asked when calling Disney they said that we don't need passports but we need our birth certificates. The first time the woman told me we need the "original" copy. The second time I called the woman told me we needed the "copy with the raised stamp" I've noticed that my 17 year old's has the raised stamp. Yet her 17 hear old b.f's and my 5 year old's does not have the raised stamp.

Anyone have insight into this? Last thing I want is a problem when I get to the port!

Thanks,
Vince

We are going to drive up on Friday the 15th and stay in Secaucus. Purchased tickets for Liberty Island and Ellis Island on Saturday morning. Looking for some other things to get into.

They do not have to be raised and they do not have to be the original, but they have to be official, certified, straight from the source for birth certificates (here in Texas that's the courthouse). My daughter's is not raised, and we had no problems on our first cruise. I think you will also need notarized permission form for the bf.

My experience has been that every original from the courthouse or whatever is supposed to have the raised stamp...and that regular photocopies don't have it. When we applied for our passports, the directions specifically said BC's had to have raised stamps. A few years ago DH misplaced his social security card, and to get a new one a BC was required...when he tried to use a copy of his BC (from Wash, DC of all places too) they refused it and he had to get a new "official" copy with the raised stamp.

I'm just thinking that since customs is another federal agency, the stamp would be required. It's bothersome when people at the same place give different answers...maybe ask for a supervisor to make sure, or somehow ask customs directly? Good luck!

They do not have raised seals in Texas anymore. It's a stamp. I'm sure it's different in different states (maybe in different cities). I remember when all notary stamps were raised as well, and those are also just stamps here now.

My daughter was able to get her passport with a stamped birth certificate, and my sister got a new social security card last week with a stamped birth certificate. I don't think it's possible for us to get one with a raised seal anymore.

You're going to love LI MacArthur Airport....small, clean, and great friendly people there :) Are you staying on LI or heading right into Manhattan the day you arrive?

There is a great science museum, the Liberty Science Center, nearby. Riding the taxi-boat from Liberty Park to Manhattan, even if just for the round trip ride, is fun. Also, a lot of good outlet shopping in Secaucus. And an Ikea, which is always an attraction for my kids!
Enjoy!!!
