I'm planning our summer trip to Disneyland Paris for 2025. During our summer trip in 2024, we stayed at New York - The Art of Marvel. I thought it was a nice hotel. Would loved to have stayed at Disneyland Hotel, but the price is too much for me.

For this trip, we are starting out at Efteling in Netherlands before transitioning to Disneyland Paris. I'm trying to decide between The Art of Marvel or Newport Bay. There is a pretty significant difference in price. Does anyone have any experience with both of these hotels? Please chime in.

Thanks

We have stayed at both in the past year. We don't love the Newport Bay Club. It's a lovely hotel and looks great from the outside, but I find the set up of the entrance from Lake Buena Vista and the upstairs lobby a bit claustrophobic feeling (while you enter into a grand-ish staircase, the entry is actually quite small and flanked by restaurants on each side, which can lead to crowding). Like for like, the room sizes and appointments are similar. We also don't love the nautical theme which is a bit over the top and now feeling a bit dated. On the flip side, the Marvel hotel (as you know) is very recently renovated and everything is shiny and modern. We also like that the Marvel hotel offers three bars/lounges which we like to use to relax a bit out of room and out of park to grab a drink and/or snacks. The kids facilities are also nice and new and if you have kids into Marvel, that Marvel experience area down by the convention rooms is cool and good for some fun pics. All that said, I don't know that we feel the premium cost of the Marvel hotel is worth it compared to staying at one of the other hotels (and we're not massive Marvel fans, so while we love all the "updates" the theming itself isn't a big draw for us).

If I am honest, of the three Lake Buena Vista hotels, we prefer Sequoia Lodge. While it's technically a step down to 3 stars (not quite sure why), to us it feels more "cozy" than "dated" compared to the Newport Bay (and now that I think about it, the entrance is not totally dissimilar....but it's never bothered me at Sequoia Lodge). Rooms can be slightly smaller, but to us offer all the same amenities. We also really like the Redwood Bar and Lounge (and it helps that just nearby is a kids area where they can let off some steam if we're lingering in the lounge longer than they would like). It is a slightly longer walk to the parks given it's just opposite Disney Village on the other side of the lake.

Have a great trip. Where are you staying for Efteling? They've just opened their new hotel right at the park entrance and it looks gorgeous!

Thanks for the detailed reply. I had also thought about Sequoia Lodge. I do like the lounge there. And it is considerably cheaper than The Art of Marvel.

As for Efteling, we haven't made a decision on which hotel yet. They aren't currently taking bookings for the Efteling Grand Hotel. If that opens, I would like to try it. Otherwise we will probably stay at the Efteling Hotel.

My #1 of advice for hotels is: How much time do you plan to spend in the room/hotel? If you plan to only sleep & shower, what do you want to pay for that? For this reason I usually stay at Santa Fe.

And #2 how important is decor to you? Disneyland Paris hotels are not the most themed hotels in the DIsney universe, but Marvel feels more modern. Newport Bay is a 90s hotel. Which is fine, but it depends on what you value.

For Efteling, dont rule out staying at Bosrijk, especially if you are travelling with younger/small children.

My family stayed at Sequoia Lodge for 1 night and Art of Marvel for 2 nights in March. Both were fine. Art of Marvel was closer to the parks and had more outlets in the room, but also had a significantly higher price. I did not go into Newport Bay but it looked like it wasn’t that much closer to the parks than Sequoia.

I agree that the lounge at Sequoia is very nice, and we also enjoyed both dinner and breakfast at the buffet. When we were at Art of Marvel, we walked to Disney Village for breakfast rather than paying the higher cost for the buffet.

One advantage of Newport Bay is that due to its location the security checkpoint you're likely to use (over on the McDonald's side of Disney Village) is not as heavily used as the one by the Art of Marvel hotel which handles the flow of guests from that hotel and the other Disney hotels. For our stay last February, the security checkpoint line was never more than 5 minutes but then being February lines were pretty short in general.

On the (small) downside, when walking back to Newport Bay at the end of the day you enter at the lower level which has stairs to the main lobby level where the main elevators are (there is a singular small elevator available to the side on the lower to get to the main level) which at the end of long day at the park... stairs.
