New York Hotel or Sequoia Lodge ??

Majority if not all of the SL rooms have been refurbished, they were doing this when I stayed in April.

That is good news! I was there October 2006...so maybe things have changed for the better! (But the breakfast still kicks butt at HNY over SL!!)

:rotfl2:

That's wonderful news..:) .and could you really notice the difference between this trip and any of your others stays ?

When I stayed before it was still fairly new so wasn't looking like it needed refurbing, but I did notice our room had a brand new bathroom suite as it was all still very shiny and the tiling was new too.

Overall the room looked like it did on my previous stays when it was a newer hotel:thumbsup2

Good morning everyone !! I'll never understand DH...( I'm sure many husbands might say...gee I'll never understand DW)...

Last night I decided to tell my DH that I had booked the SL from the 26th until the 2nd..I HAD to since I wanted his "blessing". The rest I can do on my own, like decide rest, but I HAD to let him know of my plans. ( by the way...this trip is a gift from my parents again...my DD's told their grandparents about the WONDERFUL time they had...and you know how grandparents are !!::love:

SO....when I told him and showed him the hotel photos as well as the room photos...he did not look too happy ! :confused3 He said that the NY looked nicer ( I could have killed him...but of course he had NO idea I had cancelled the NY and changed to the SL...of course that was my fault for not consulting with him first..).

So..very calmly I had him confirm that he would enjoy the NY more than the SL. He's the type that won't plan any vacation...it's me that does everything ( which I enjoy)... After he confirmed the hotel I told him about the dates...26th Dec until the 2nd...he said that it was impossible for us to come back on the 2nd..that it had to be the 1st ...:scared1: ( I have not booked any atkt yet..just looked at prices and airmiles)...
He said that he had to be at work on the 2nd and so on...he works with 2 other men..and I'm sure that one day won't hurt...I'm sure that at the end the other might eve take the 2nd off too...

SO...I called DLRP AGAIN.:rolleyes1 ..and had a very nice CM who understood me COMPLETELY..and even laughed at the situation. There was still room at the NY, so I booked a standard room until the 2nd ( hopefully I'll be able to change my DH's mind and stay until that date  :rolleyes1 )...and I also booked the NYE dinner which I have just been told that you can have dinner at ANY hotel except the DL ( unless you stay there). The CM explained it was something new that you can book any of the other on site hotel rest. for dinner on the 31st. ( I don't know for guests who are not hotel guests...but he did confirm for on site hotel guests.)

So I booked the early dinner at the SL ( he told me the parks would be really full and I thought of spending most of the day at the park and have a quiet evening out of the park )

SO...to make a long story short..we will stay at the NYH...( unless I win the lottery and change to the DLH ...:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

P.S. This time I'll have a real good look at the SL for a future trip ?

Men are always indecisive!

Hope you have a great trip:thumbsup2

This is really interesting, i'm glad they have decided to do this, i might have a look at the nye dinners at the other hotels ~something worth thinking about.:thumbsup2

Oh well ~at least your husband will be happy, i'm sure you'll have a wonderful time :santa:

Glad you are staying at the HNY. The HNY and SL are my 2 fav DLP Disney hotels. HAving stayed at all of them on numerous occassions, if you want something special, you have made the better choice. THe SL is fine and has nice public areas and the best pool, but the service quality and breakfast situation are not great. Also, a lakeview does not always mean park view, the lakeviews also face the NBC) The HNY on the other hand is actually better than the DLH IMHO. I think they have better service, and the character interaction is not as frantic as the DLH. Also, if the kids flake, you can get room service at the HNY (which you cannot from the SL). While the HNY may not be the prettiest on the outside, it certainly is beautiful on the inside. I think you'll be very happy.

We used to insist on the Disney hotels, but quite frankly, we find having an AP and staying at the Marriott is even better. The quality of the furnishings beats anything Disney has in Paris, and having 3 TVs, a DVD player, a full kitchen and seperate bedrooms in a house about the same siize as our house in the UK is excellent.

The tree at the HNY is great, and passing the ice rink each day is lovely.
