New York Help needed!

Hi all

I won a really nice looking hotel through SkyAuction.com for a good price for my new york trip. They said they would email back 30 days prior to checking in to confirm the booking. Well they emailed back a few days ago saying that they couldn't fulfill my request!

I tried priceline and hotwire but they didn't come up with anything in my pricerange.

Now i have checked the prices of hotels and they have gone up quite alot since June when i won the auction, and alot of the hotels are full up according to the websites. I just rang up the Milford Plaza Hotel and they are full up and said there is a convention on at the time.

I have already got my flights booked from London, now i need to urgently find a hotel.

I have found one very good priced hotel called Hotel Carter which is meant to be very close to Times Square. I checked the reviews on trip advisor and they are the worst! Saying stuff like rats and mice and **** roachers are in the hotel, that it used to be a mental hospital! That there are ghosts! Not sure if its all true, but looks pretty bad. So i will have to book this hotel if i can't find anything else.

So if any of you can help that would be useful, here are the details.

Checking in Thursday October 21st,
Checking out Tuesday October 26th,
preferable two beds.

What IS your price range? Have you checked the Portland?

Sorry-that's the Portland Square on 47th St. Cheap but decent.

Hi,

i have checked the Portland Square but they only have Queen/Private bath rooms or Sing/shared bath rooms left.

My price would probably be up to $140 maybe more depending on if it is worth it.

I don't have any experience with hotels in NYC but I always review new hotels/areas on www.tripadvisor.com They combine most of the reviews on the internet in one place, as well as offer prices on up to about 6 sites at once for each hotel.
