Hi, DBF has agreed that we can go to NYC next year as our family holiday. (he is not going on the wdw holiday) . I am really excited he has agreed and his only condition is that I have to plan the holiday and not speak non stop about it while doing so.

Does anyone recomend a good guide book, something that tells me about the hotels and areas they are located in and how to get around to the tourist spots?

DD also wants to go to a toy shop, something like the one of home alone 2, any ideas?

At the moment I am looking at the Sofitel hotel however want to know where it is located as I am unfamiliar with NYC.

hi, I have a thread further down on top tips for new york, so feel free to join in on that. I have the brits guide to new york, its informative and easy to read like the florida one, but its the 2004 edition so, I have pre ordered the rough guide off play.com as its the 2007 edition, its released around the end of jan, i dont know what its like but the format of the rough guides is usually the same and easy to work with, I just wanted the most up to date book i can get. Happy planning:thumbsup2

Hi, I will check out the brits guide, if it is a simillar format to the florida one that it should be what I am looking for.

Thank you.:goodvibes

They closed every branch and franchise in the country except the flagship New York store. Don't ask me why but that much I do know.

Probably because the NYC one attracts films buffs wanting to see the massive keyboard!. When I went I had to queue to get in!
