Can anyone tell me where a good place to stay in NY is? We'll only be there for a weekend and want to see the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Museum of Modern Art, Central Park, 9/11 Memorial, and the large Disney store. I know that's a lot so think we need to stay in the area if there is such a thing.

We stayed at Hotel Newton on the upper west side when we spent a week in NYC last summer and took the subway to everything. Except Central Park, which was walkable from there. It’s across the street, literally, from the 95th and Broadway station. Easy ride. Now, the hotel is an older building and not fancy but it was clean, we felt safe, and significantly less expensive than staying in Times Square. There is a diner next door and a Subway, frozen yogurt and Rite Aid a couple doors down.

When we went for our first trip there last summer, We had Marriott points and stayed at a residence inn that was about a 5 minute walk to both Central Park and Times Square and also near a subway station.

It was right next door to the ed Sullivan (the late show) theater.

We loved the location.

New Yorker here.

The things you listed are in all diff parts of the city. Battery Park, Financial District, Uptown, Midtown, Times Square.

Pick a hotel that you like, clean, in your budget, etc. You can take the subway very easily or uber. I would def stay in Manhattan itself and not a borough.

We are local so don’t stay in hotels, but look at a map and divide your days by areas. We are planning a weekend in July, already have statue tickets, and are planning on getting tickets to the 9/11 and tenement museum the following day (I’ll buy those a few days ahead of time).

We did the tenement museum in July and beware, no AC! (And lots of stairs). But it was fascinating.

Thank you! We will pick an hour long tour then. Maybe we’ll start there, and then go to the 9/11 museum.

We stayed at the Hilton Times Square. It was safe, clean, and modern with reasonable valet parking. We had views of the Empire State Building from our room and had a fantastic stay!

I suggest going to trivago or a similar site and putting in the dates you want. I've stayed at Avalon (near K-town) (small but ok), Hyatt Place in midtown (good and has free breakfast), and Ink48 (mediocre), as well as the Henry Norman Hotel in Brooklyn (excellent and large room). Of those, the Henry Norman was the best hotel, but location, location, location. For your trip, you should stay in Manhattan. I'd avoid Times Square but that's just me. If you have a choice, a hotel near a subway entrance beats one that is blocks away.

We always stay at the Westin's Times Square... its a bit more expensive, but you can walk to most places, subway is around the corner. We Uber to the 911 memorial, and down to Chinatown...

I have stayed here multiple times and think it's a great location (and often a really decent price for Manhattan).

Try these:
The Royalton (44th Street)
The Cassa Hotel (45th Street)
The Iroquois Hotel (49th & 44th)

All vetted by my company and all above three stars. I have a preference to the Cassa (has a gym) while my boss loves the Royalton (location to our NY office).

Travelzoo.com has a deal on the
DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square West right now for $169 - $189/night.
