So, DD has concluded she would like a trip to NYC for her Spring Break (March 12-20). Fine with me I LOVE NYC and DH has NEVER been!

I find myself with a dilemma however, as I haven't been since I was 19 years old, and suffice to say, I am quite a bit older than that!!! When I went back then, I had friends to stay with, they aren't there anymore of course, and before that we had family in NJ, they aren't there anymore either, so, for starters, I don't know where to stay.

We were thinking of visiting the 13th - 18th, fly in early on 13th and fly out late on 18th. We will hire a car of course to and from the airport (likely Laguardia, unless you all say otherwise). Our main focuses will be Central Park, as many museums as we can fit in, FAO Schwartz (is it still there?), Disney store (of course), at least one Broadway show, Empire State building and Statue of Liberty. Anything else will be gravy as they say. So, with that said, give me some 11 year old friendly, nice (not TOO expensive) places to stay. We aren't on a REALLY strict budget, but we aren't the Rockefellers either!! If it helps, we have mostly stayed at AKL at Disney, although sometimes we creep back to mods and values.

And, for all of you experts, tell me what the best way to tour the museums is, can I get an all in one type pass to see several of them, do I have to pay separately for each one, how does it work. And Broadway shows, we are all torn between several (I have seen Phantom, Miss Saigon and Les Mis) - Wicked, Lion King, Phantom and Mary Poppins. What do you suggest for an 11 year old girl and a DH who really isn't all that into musicals???!!!

Finally, restaurants, we will do snacks for breakfast, probably fast food for lunch, so we really only need dinner restaurants. We ARE NOT fine diners AT ALL, around here we frequent the hibachi restaurant, seafood restaurants (we are in PCB, FL!) and Longhorns (A LOT). So, again, whatever you can throw my way would be GREATLY appreciated!

Aside from that, whatever else you can throw my way would be GREATLY appreciated!

And, please, I know I can Google places to stay, but I want a REAL person's opinion, someone who has stayed there, or even someone who lives there. So don't bash me with that one! I am steadily Googling everything I can for show times and museum times, its the specifics I am looking for!

Thanks in advance, I know you Disers will come through!

The best place to go is www.tripadvisor.com, they are real people with lots of experience about everything NYC and will help you map out your trip, NYC is really a great trip. Off the top of my head I can say the hotels are pretty expensive. I know TA will point you in the right direction.

For your Broadway choices, I'd definitely go with Wicked - dd14 has seen it twice. The others are good, but Wicked blew us away! You won't find discounted tickets. I prefer top of the rock over the esb. If you wan't tickets to the crown for the statue, go on line now and see if any are available. We've only stayed at the Marriott Marquis (we live 8 miles from NYC), and recommend it. If you do a search on the DIS, you will find many NYC threads.

Back in May, my BFF and myself stayed at Ink48. It was VERY nice, not terribly pricey, but maybe a little more "foo foo" than I would have liked. It was a little farther than I would have preferred to Times Square - although it was walk-able. I would suggest one of those bus tours. It is fun, informative, and you can get on and off wherever you want. Saves $ on cab fare and gives you a good tour as well.
