Just got back from our second stay at the Shelburne Murray Hill in NYC. We have enjoyed it especially for its attentive service and use it when we want to stay overnight to see a show and get a dose of soaking up NYC energy of which there is much.

But, we can't help remembering that there used to be TWO choices when using DVC in New York City. The other was the Plaza which sadly, we had intended to use but fell victim to its sale to condominium developers.

So we were wondering if anyone has any inkling that DVC is pursuing another partnership with an NYC hotel?

If it did we would certainly try it out. The Shelburne is nice but not terribly well located for mid town plans and shows.

im from nj i go to nyc every 2-3 years
how many points is it?
do they have parking?
do you have to pay any dollar amount with your points?
thanks

It's a Loews Hotel that has been added to the Concierge Collection. Points range from 50-73/night depending on time of year and type of accomodation.

The Regency is a great add to our choices. It's a first-class NYC hotel located in roughly the same area as The Plaza -- over on Madison in the low 60's.

I'm considering taking DD and a couple friends into NYC for her 16th b-day the end of January. Any opinions if this would be a good choice for hotel accommodations? Is it convenient to a lot of activities/sites?

Thanks for any info!

Check your last newsletter because DVC was offering a "special" whereby if you book 3 nights at the Regency you will get one night free! There are date restrictions but I know that I reserved for the July weekend!

I was told that it's a cab ride to Broadway but that there is good shopping in the area. Time will tell!

It's right in the heart of Madison/Fifth Avenue Shopping. Bloomie's is also nearby.

It's a similar location to The Plaza just over on Park instead of being on Fifth.

I would think it would be great for a birthday celebration.

We've traded DVC for both the Plaza (disappointment), the Shelborne Murray Hill 2x's which we liked and we've also traded (transferred points) with another DVC owner who also owned at the Mahattan Club (which was closest to DVC quality) this past spring break and had a wonderful week in NY.

My daughter's birthday is 1/16. When she turned 16 we invited 15 friends to Planet Hollywood in NYC. (we are just outside the City) 16 friends on the 16th for a Sweet 16! I had a cake and balloons delivered from nearby shops, reasonably priced. I rented 3 rooms at The Plaza, two for the "kids", and one for the chaperones. Two rooms were upgraded to suites which were given to the girls. Because it was off season the rooms were not that expensive. I bought her the book Eloise at the Plaza in the gift shop and all the girls signed it. It was a dream "Sweet 16" and a lot cheaper then these "wedding" type events! Now that the Plaza is gone I am so thrilled I did it. I had never been in the Plaza and I was born in NYC! Just want to give you some ideas, I am sure your daughter will love a trip into NYC with her friends, it is very special! :wizard:
