Is anybody going to the auction Tuesday of the 77 Mickey's (started as 75 but a couple were added--Washington, D.C. did one and somebody else)?

Even if you don't go to the auction, you can still order the catalogue or just go look at the giant Mickeys.

I want 13 of them!!!.............but not enough money for even ONE. I know the sale of each one is for a GREAT cause........but I can't pull the money out of thin air. You can see them all on Sotheby's website.

Chicken Little and Abby Mallard are scheduled to be at the World of Disney during that time also.

This is just FYI----I don't work for Sotheby's I promise.

Thanks for the info!!! I would love to get my hands in one of those Mickeys, but I'm afraid my partner will kill me if I bring home a giant mouse.

I didn't go...but my very good friend did along with her daughter Vanessa - the ARTIST for one of the statues "It All Started With A Mouse". What an awesome honor it was for her entry to be chosen as a statue, and as much as they wanted to purchase it themselves, they were at least at the auction and met the people from Florida who did!!! Here's a photo of hers....

MICKEY STATUE: SUSAN LUCCI, ALL THE WORLD'S HIS STAGE
oh my, Poor Susan!

bstsuda-Congrats on your friend's little girl....what an honor!

Wow 3,000 thats not bad, I thought they would all go at least 5,000-10,000.

Thanks Pooh Pal - yes that was a definitely a huge honor for her...and hers sold for $11,000

i'm surprised some went for such low amounts.....

I was sad that the bids were so low. When the Snoopys sold, they averaged approx $13,300 a piece (hammer price) and none of those were done by celebrities. I really think that the other disasters going on really made these charities take a financial hit......but I guess every amount of money helps. Also, the Snoopys were sold in Minnesota and that is Snoopy country--I think the New York location was a mistake......I think they would have sold better in Mickey country.......and the auctioneer did NOT get THE MOUSE!! He was the pits!

The $62,400 amount listed for Elton John's actually included the 20% premium to the auction house so unless Sotheby's is donating some of that to charity, the charity only gets between $51K-$52K. It was the top amount and the next amount from the top was a $29K bid.

I had told my husband that I was guessing the Mickeys would be $15K to $20K average.....I was sadly wrong. There was this guy standing in the back having one of those public cell phone calls and he was saying, "If they go really cheap, I will buy a couple for the pool room." Well, he went over $20K on a couple of bids....so really cheap is different in his world than it is in mine.....I want some of the money trees that grow in his yard.....I can't get them to grow in my yard.
