So - After I have hated the thought of camping for many years, my DS8 looked at me with his puppy dog eyes and asked couldn't I please go with him and DH to his Cub Scouts camping trip. Of course I couldn't resist his cuteness and I went, dreading it for weeks. It was pretty primitive - terrible bathroom situations (my biggest gripe) - but guess what ?!?!? We had a great time
My two DSs had such a blast and frankly, DH and I enjoyed it, too. The woods, the morning air, the campfire. Lets face it, its the stuff of some good family times
So now we are looking for some local sites (with nice facilities) to try over the summer ... and being the Disney nut that I am I am starting to think a lot about Fort Wilderness. DH has some vacations days the week of New Years and I see that value season starts the 1st of January. So I was thinking about maybe a four nighter at FW that week - 1/1 - 1/5. Its so inexpensive and the weather should be nice. What tips do you have for me? Can tents go on the preferred sites at FW or only the basic ones? Does anyone do that particular week at FW? I know that the parks will be mobbed, does FW get really crowded? Tell me everything - the good and the bad! Thanks in advance!
