Last year was Disney....this year...UNIVERSAL!! We're staying New Year's week and the week after at the Hard Rock. First time to Universal. Looking for tips/suggestions. We have a 6 yr old sweet boy with mild Autism and were told that the Universal Express passes will act like the Disney GAC in terms of alternate entries to attractions. Is this true? Do we need to get something else as well? Also, are there any discussion forums regarding the dining areas of Universal?

Thanks,
Steve, Julie, and prince Eli

Glad you're stepping out of the "World" and into Universal. I don't really know anything about Disney, so I do not know what you refer to when you say GAC. I can tell you that with your HRH room keys you will be in a separate and much shorter line (usually the very front of the line) for 99% of the attractions at US and IOA. This is an awesome benefit--especially the part about there being no need to rush the gate at opening time. You will find that you can tour at your leisure and not worry about a "touring plan". Sounds like you will be at UO several days (2 weeks?) and will have plenty of time to enjoy the parks. I hear that the parks were very crowded durning New Years week last year, but with your room key that should not be much of an issue.

What are you doing about park tickets?

There is no separate dining forum for UO. Just start a new thread when you have specific (or not so specific) questions. Have you purchased a book on Universal Studios? If not I would suggest you do so. There is a good one by Kelly Monahagan (sp) called the Ultimate Guide to Universal, or something like that. I bought it and learned of these boards. The author frequents these boards as well so you can get real expert advice here.

Sorry to have raised more questions than I answered!

for the message. Im sure we'll have a blast. We took 2 weeks so we can have some 'down' time at the hotel., pool, etc. The GAC stands for Guest Assistance Card, which allowed persons with diabilities to use other entrances to rides, etc...........................we're getting flex tix for all the parks..........

Your son will enjoy himself. With two weeks you will be able to find out which attractions suit him and with FOTL you will be able to do them at his whim. There are a lot of great play areas in both parks that he should really enjoy as well. The pool at HRH is great and you can pool hop to the other hotels if you wish. HRH also has a great snack area on pool level with ice cream and packaged snacks, drinks, etc. If you go to some of the threads at the top of this board you will see links to menus for Universal hotels and parks and Citywalk.

by staying on site, you will see how easy and laid back vacationing at a Universal themepark can be. You will become a fan, I'm sure.
