DId they close the parks this past year? If they did doees anyone know around what time? We were thinking of going but don't know if the kids would make it all day (or maybe us)!! What happened this year?
Thanks!!! :wizard:

Not exactly sure what you mean. They are never open 24 hours, if that's what you are asking. Nor do they close on New Years. Or are you asking if they close off the parks due to crowds? They DO do that sometimes, but I've never actually been refused entry ever on those days...I've just "heard about it". They have extended hours and close around 2AM on New Years Eve if recall correctly.

Are you referring to the fact that they close after Max Capacity? This sometime's happens. Little bit of advice...do not go on NYE. It is crowded beyond belief...we were there over NYE a few months ago..and decided to stay at the hotel and rest. If you do decide to brave it..make sure you get there early!

I was there on NYE with DH and his family. They closed the parks around 10:00 AM each day prior to NYE and on NYE they closed around 9:00 AM. We were in Epcot and it took us 2 hours to get from Mexico to the front entrance. I would advise going during another time of year, unless you having a lot of patience!

Yes I do mean do they close the parks due to capacity on New years Eve and aound what time did that happen, sorry. I didn't even understand my question :rotfl2: !! That will teach me not to do 2 things at once!!

For those of you who were there on NYE, how were the hotels? Is there enough to keep us busy if we were to hang out there? At Saratoga can we see PI fireworks?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure you'll see the fireworks at PI from Saratoga.

NYE at the parks isn't too bad. I've been there on several NYE's, including 1999-2000. I'd stay away from the MK that night though, it gets scary-crowded on Main St. and in front of the castle. Epcot isn't bad and only gets jammed at the usual congestion points. If you just stay put once you find a comfortable spot and don't try to take a leisurely stroll around World Showcase between 10:30PM - 12:30AM you'll be fine. The crowd dies down considerably after that.

I went NYE 2004. WE avoided MK like the plague. I do not know if it closed on NYE for capacity, we went to MGM, which was fabulous! They had a band and gave out noise makers and hats and it was a great party for me , DS 9, DD, 7 and DM, 63.

It was crowded, but just like any other Hoilday week park.

So good in fact we are going back this year.

FYI- MK was closed C-Mas morning by 10am due to capacity, just as an aside.

Hope this helps. :tink:

i was just at epcot this NYE and it was an absolute mob scene. we got there at 7:30 am and there were lines by then. stayed all day, elbow to elbow. left for a short bit in the afternoon to MGM - totally wonderful. but went back to epcot and it was almost scary by 5:30. you could not move and got smushed while walking. people were plopped down for first illuminations that early. it was crazy!! do mgm or stay at the hotel. it was fun and now i can say i did it once. lol! (i went to times square nye 2001 and that was easier to maneuver in!!)
