New Year's FANTASY 12/28/13

Could you please take us off the roll call--we had to cancel. :sad1: Hope everyone has a fantastic cruise!

Discovered over on Facebook that another person on our cruise thread, Julie, is also participating in events during the Princess Half Marathon weekend in February! Yay Julie! Is anyone else over on this thread participating in the Princess? Anyone on our cruise doing the Castaway Cay 5K???

Hello there, We signed up for the Princess half-marathon about a week ago. We are not serious runners, but get the distance done. Signed up and cruising are my sister, my mom, and I. My aunt and uncle are also running/walking but they are not sailing with us this time. We did the Castaway Cay 5K when we sailed June 2012. Boy was it hot, but we finished. Not sure if we are going to do it again this time. It took quite a bit of time out the day, signing up, waiting to get off the ship, walking to the start, then the actual walking. It was definitely something I was glad I did, but I am not sure if I would do it again. I loved the Run Disney Castaway Cay 5K bib I got to wear and they gave a plastic Mickey-head medal when finished. The 5K is getting quite popular, there were over 130 people who ran when we went. In the shops by the finish is a Castaway Cay 5K shirt. I did not see it when we ran last year until we were disembarking. I might have to go get one of them this time.

My sister and I have also done the Wine and Dine half-marathon too. My mom and sister did it as a relay the second year. We like the bling the Run Disney races awards the finishers.

Our family would love to run in the Castaway Cay 5K? How do you sign up for the run and can kids run also? We've been to Castaway Cay before and missed this.

There is no sign up for the 5K. You just show up on that morning to the spot listed in the Navigator. I think I have read that kids need to be 12 to race.

There was no age listed in the Navigators when we sailed last June. My daughter who was 9 at the time ran it. She has run many 5K's and felt comfortable with the distance, but the heat got to her. It was really hot that morning. The course has you run the bike path loop twice but she only did it once. There is not too much shade on the course, but there was some water. The heat probably won't be an issue in Decemeber.

We ran it this past January, and even then is was still very HOT! I about died! It was a fun thing to do - and they have t-shirts you can buy at the end. They ran out of some sizes though, so if you want one, you might want to buy it BEFORE the race. Another plus is that you can stake out your beach chairs early before the mobs descend. Have fun!

I did the Princess last year and it was awesome! Skipping this year since we will just be back from the cruise.

I also did the CC5K in April and it was H-O-T HOT! I was glad I did it, though. It made me feel better about lounging around the rest of the day.;)

So I'm trying to plan out things like BBB and Palo, but when I go to the reservations page and click on Cruise Activities, I just get a generic list, not a daily schedule. Is it because I'm not paid in full yet? Anyone able to tell me when Pirate night is and if the BBB is open on Port days?

ETA: I also was wondering about the tea with Alice (or I've also heard maybe Ariel's tea?). I don't want to book Palo and then find out that's a character breakfast or tea day. Any help?

YAY!!! I decided to screw it and keep our ressie!!!! Now we are getting excited! We don't even care if we go on any excursions at this point! LOL! Jsut happy I decided that we are going!!! WOOT WOOT!!:banana::banana::cheer2::yay::woohoo::woohoo:

I was missing out Countdown since Relaxin' left the group. I will try to remember to post it each week.

To book onboard activities, you do need to be paid in full - but - your available booking date is determined by your castaway club ranking. Silver (after 1 cruise and up to 5) you can book 90 days prior to sailing; Gold (6-10 cruises) 105 days prior; and Platinum (11+ cruises) 120 days prior. I think if it is your first cruise it is 75 days prior to departure.

The last eastern we went on (2007) Pirate night was Tuesday (St. Maarten). But, that will be New Year's Eve on our cruise so I don't know what change that will make.

The only thing that would conflict with the tea would probably be a Palo brunch. Those reservations are a prize because it is only held on sea days so it limits the number of guest who get to enjoy it. It is always one of the highlights of our trips. Unfortunately many who are silver or on their first cruise are unable to get reservations for the brunch.

None of the shops are open while we are in port, I am not sure if this also applies to BBB too.

Hope this helps.

If you sign into your account there is an activites calendar that you can click on. Right now it's listing the Pirate Party on our second night but it doesn't have any activities listed on New Year's Eve (St. Marrten) which seems kind of strange to me....so I'm not sure if the calendar is correct.
