My grandparents are planning on taking our extended family to celebrate an anniversary and to ring in 2006 (Dec. 31, 2005 7-day Western Magic Cruise)..

I was wondering what I could expect as far as spending New Years Eve on a Disney cruise with my extended family.. <I will be 20 at the time, if that helps>

They took us on the Wonder five years ago for a different anniversary but that was a 3 day cruise (I think) and I was a lot younger..

Anyway, any help you have (trip reports from New Years or just a college-age perspective, etc.) would be greatly appreciated.

I'm still new to posting.. I'm not sure how I made all of that other stuff italic.. lol..

I've been reading so many, I didn't realize that *I* would be able to change those things.. without knowing I did..

We were on the New Year's Eve sailing on Magic this past year. In the dining room, they "encourage" you to order a bottle(s) of champagne early in the cruise, so you'll have it during dinner on New Year's Eve. Then on New Year's Eve itself, there are parties in most of the public spaces around the ship, with the main activity in the atrium area. There are large-screen TVs in the non-atrium areas, broadcasting the atrium activity around the ship. They give out hats and noise-makers and free champagne in commemorative glasses in the hours leading up to midnight. At midnight, balloons and confetti drop in the atrium, and two "surprise" characters make an appearance (don't want to spoil the fun!). By about 1:00, a super clean-up crew appears out of nowhere, and by morning everything is pristine again!

In the staterooms at turndown, they left a platter of chocolates with a holiday theme, as well as a large poster autographed by the crew commemorating the holiday.

We too were on the 12-27-03 Eastern NYE cruise. Everything Needzavacation says is correct. Although we DID spot 1 piece of confetti still in the Christmas tree on New Year's day, but the cleanup after the party was amazing.
ONLY thing I was disappointed in was having to pay $17 a bottle for Martinelli's sparkling cider for my kids. Heck of a markup on a product that most stores have on sale for $1.50 a bottle that time of year. The champagne I bought on board was only double the store price.

Thank you. You have all been very helpful. Anyone have trip reports from a New Years Eve cruise?
