hi everyone,

I have just learned that my dad wants me to book a trip for the 13 of us for New Years. I am a bit freaked out at the thought of planning that trip and still haven't booked our flights or resort, but will do so as soon as possible.

As he wants us to go for New Years, i was wondering if there was something special happening for New Years Eve in the parks or any resort? We once did Mickey's Christmas party, but what about the 31st?

Thank you!

Isabelle

On NYE, there will be special fireworks at MK and Epcot.

Epcot is the traditional go-to park on NYE.

:welcome: to the DISboards, Isabelle!

The same NYE fireworks that MK shows will also go on 12/30, so you could do both MK on 12/30 and Epcot on NYE. Get your dining in now, because stuff is going, going, gone. We are doing our first NYE trip this year. I wanted to add a lunch at Skipper Canteen not on 12/30 or 12/31, and I could only get 1:30pm.

My recommendation depends on the ages in your group. My family would go to Epcot, but I wouldn't go there with small children or elderly people.

How interesting, I wouldn't have thought of going to Epcot on that day. But I love Epcot, so that works! Anything else happens there on that day? Or is it because you have a drink around the world?

In terms of family composition, we are 13 : Grandma 66 (in super amazing shape!), grandpa 64, 3 sisters in their late 30s, 2 husbands in their early 40s, one 18 yrs old, 3 X 9 yrs old and a 7 yrs old that outsleeps all of the others...

If you're down in time, go to MK on the 30th. It's crowded but nowhere near what it will be on NYE and you can see MK's NYE fireworks on the 30th. They do it on the 30th and then on NYE. So we caught it on the 30th then went to Epcot on NYE.

NYE at Epcot is a blast. They hand out hats and whistles, have a firework show at 6pm then again at midnight of course, dance parties in China, Italy, and Japan all with DJ's. They have extra stands serving food and drinks. If anybody in your group drinks, this past NYE I found they sold the cheapest beer on property at one of the stands for $5 a cup of beer. Also have champagne available.

The Epcot NYE fireworks are the best fireworks on property out of any show they do imo. They shoot off individual country fireworks and then light up the sky. We plan on doing the same this year again, MK for the 30th then Epcot for NYE

I'd recommend making a dining reservation for 12/31 (and 12/30 if you plan to go to MK) as soon as possible. Out of curiosity based on your post, I just ran a search on MDE for ADR for 13 on 12/31, and only a few restaurants in Epcot still have limited availability. I like TS on days like NYE because the day is usually a marathon going well into the night. A TS meal is a chance to rest, often for a couple of hours. If you make a dinner ADR, it's an opportunity for a big group like yours to meet up again (assuming you'll split up at some point during the day) before evening festivities.

Yes I'll do that today, I hadn't realized Imcould make reservations without having my tickets booked. Glad tomsee there are still a few possibility.

Make sure the younger kids memorize the cell phone number of at least one of the adults and that they know what to do if they get separated. The crowd at Epcot on NYE is unbelievable!

We stayed at the resort CBR last NYE, best decision ever not going to a park.
They had a dance party, gave out hats, blowers, we saw the fireworks from Epcot & MK & and then strolled back to our room, no crowds or waiting for buses lol.
Worked out great , Next morning went to AK, not many people around, no one else on the bus.
Couldn't imagine anything worse than those crowds just to see some fireworks.
But hope you enjoy
