Hi again:goodvibes

We currently have a week booked at Hard Rock Hotel from 30th Dec - 6th Jan, and I am wondering about cancelling the 30th Dec and New Years Eve and booking 2 nights in an Ocean View Room at Vero Beach (assuming it is available).

Our boys will only be 3 and 6, and I am a bit concerned that the atmosphere at HRH/Universal might be a bit too adult focussed on NYE, so I am not really sure what we will do to make NYE special - at the moment we are contemplating the NYE Buffet that they hold at the Portofino.

I have heard that VB do a pool party with a few characters, but I am not sure if this only happens nearer midnight, in which case we will probably be in bed before it starts!! I also know the weather is unlikely to be great at the beach, so would this be a disappointing first impression of VB?

We originally booked the week at HRH, as this is our favourite hotel ANYWHERE and we really wanted a nice long 'chill' at the end of our trip, which will be perfect if the weather is good - but I can see that a week in Universal in the cold might be a bit toooooo long!!!

If I do cancel and can get a point booking, I will save approximately £600 - so that is something to consider as well - although this will be our 'once only' time in Florida over Christmas/NYE so it isn't all about the money.

What do you think??

I think Vero Beach is a great idea and to be honest for your children, I would have thought they would enjoy that more than Portofino which is my eyes is very much an adult/couples resort.

thanks Johnny, I must admit it does feel as though Vero will be more suitable - and saving some money for once wouldn't hurt either!!:goodvibes

Definitely and you would also get that classic old fashioned '2 centre feeling', a change and contrast to Orlando.
If you have the chance to do that I would go for it personally.

thanks Johnny - the more I have been reading about Vero this afternoon, the more I think we will love it:lovestruc - now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that there will be availability for New Years!!:thumbsup2
