I apologize if this is posted in the wrong thread. We are staying in Formosa Gardens three miles from the MK end of Dec. 2020 and first week of Jan. 2021. We are wanting to be in the MK or maybe even Epcot for the New Years Eve countdown. We have heard crowds and traffic are BAD. And you need to get there early. How early lol? Any ideas, suggestions on transportation? Should we drive the three miles and park normally. Are there any better ways? Buses, shuttles, ferry? Any input is appreciated.

I highly doubt there will be a NYE count down celebration at Epcot or any other park this year. Disney is not allowing mass gatherings of any kind that is why they are no longer doing: the daily parades. all nightly fireworks at all of the parks have been canceled, all of the nightly Halloween parties at MK all got canceled, the wine and dine marathon got canceled and is being run as virtual event, all of the Christmas events got cancelled yesterday which include the Mickey Christmas party events and the candle light processional at Epcot
They have reduced the hours and parks close before it gets dark Epcot closes at 7p.m and MK closes at 6 p.m. thru the middle of Nov. No telling what the hours will be for Dec They are limited the number of guest allowed into the park a day so you need a reservation to get in that is if the guest staying at a Disney resort have not already booked all of them for that day. Disney is allowing a tiered percentage of people allowed to book a reservation on any given day. Only certain percentage of annual pass people are allowed in in day. Only a percentage of people with just tickets but not staying at Disney resort reservations and only so many that are staying at a Disney resort. During the weekends annual passes holders are having a hard time getting reservation because they are completely booked up. This past weekend for Labor day both Sat and Sun all of the park reservations were all gone. If you did not have a reservation you were being turned away at the toll both at the parks.
Even Disney Spring had to close because they were at capacity. So I expect Christmas/NYE to be just as busy since the Disney DVC resorts are sold out for the holiday.

THANKS for your input! I realized most of this after doing more research. I contacted Disney directly and was pretty much told it is doubtful any celebrations of any kind will be held NYE.

It is probably best to wait and go next year and when you might actually be able to have a good time. I believe the Governors rule that the local bars in Florida are still not allowed to even serve alcohol is still in effect so I there will probably not be many people outside of Disney that will be celebrating which makes NYE a Debbie Downer for those folks. And Yes Epcot is a mad house and people say to get there before noon. The lines at the toll booth to pay to park are insanely long! I will see if I can find the photo of last year where the cars were lined up and share it with you.

We have already booked a house for ten days, deposits paid.(before COVID) They have allowed us the option of picking same dates for next year without losing the deposit. But looks like we are still going regardless, for some much needed family time. The house is insane and I'm sure everyone will still enjoy themselves. Only way we will reschedule is if Florida increases restrictions etc. before then. Epcot is not on our schedule this year but I'm sure the other parks are probably similar. Again, thanks for your input. Btw we are from Ohio too lo
