New Year's Eve & Park Capacity

Do you know if they restrict the beach to other resort guests? I've heard they have closed it before to just Poly guests. I'm not staying there this year.

I don’t know for sure, I’m sorry. I have read about that happening but have not stayed there NYE, this year will by my first.

I did stay at Poly 7/3 and 7/4 this year, they did NOT restrict access to Poly guests either night. It was my first time over that holiday so can’t vouch for what happened prior years.

Our day will go like so: DHS to DAK to Epcot. After parking at DHS, would it be best to just take the bus the rest of the day?

That sounds like a great plan. At the end of the night when you leave Epcot make sure you exit the park through International Gateway (between UK and France) and then you can either take a Friendship Boat or walk to DHS. This will be the slightly less crowded option to avoid dealing with the Epcot main entrance which will be a mad house.

Ok out of curiosity, does anyone know if they will stream the fireworks onto the tv's at the Disney resorts? We are also planning 30th at MK 31 at Epcot however if my kids are spent I don't want to push them to stick around. I want to enjoy the vacation with them. It no fun for any of us if they are so exhausted they can't function.

Add me to the list of people doing MK on the 30th and Epcot on the 31st. I have a whole plan for Epcot on NYE, but I'm also mentally prepared to do nothing but my ADRs and FP+ selections if it should come to that (though hopefully it won't). Looking forward to seeing you all there!

I think I am one of the few Diser that will be at the MK NYE have FP for the morning and then going to go a lot of people watching.

Everyone have fun and enjoy your self

Last year it was streamed live online via the Disney Parks Blog website which is an official Disney website, however, I am not sure if this is a regular thing and/or if this would be broadcast on TV in your resort. The online stream was not announced until a few days before NYE last year so there is no way to tell if they will do this again or not until the date gets closer. Which resort are you staying at? There is always the option to watch the fireworks from your resort if you are within viewing distance to one of the parks such as the monorail resorts or BC/YC/BW, etc..

Yeah, we are planning heavy crowds and not expecting to do much of anything beyond the FP we have booked and the meals we have booked. We are expecting to do lots of standing around with lots of other folks.
We aren't going to the parks early though, since we will be moving resorts each morning and we'll be up late on the 30th, hoping to stay till 3:00 if we can.
We are staying at resorts we can walk to from MK on the 30th (CR) and Epcot on the 31st (BWI) so we don't have any transportation woes.
We plan to head in late morning, do FP, eat lunch then head to the resort once we have our room for a few hours to get naps
We have the Dessert Party booked at MK on the 30th (the late one) so we aren't going to be trying to get back there till late since we'll be trying to stay till 3:00. I'm thinking we'll watch the early fireworks from the resort actually.
We'll try to get back to Epcot a bit earlier, probably closer to 7:00. We'll watch fireworks there from wherever we can. Figure, they are in the sky, it's not like you need a good view of the lagoon, even though I realize there are some there too of course. We'll make do with what we can. We have a late ADR at Napoli (9:00)

They've done it for several years, since streaming came in to being a regular thing. I'd think they'll do it again.
No idea if it's available in the rooms or not
I know last year was the first one it worked well. Prior years were very glitchy.

We are at BC so I am much less worried about the 31st then the 30th. I am just taking it all in stride this year and not letting myself get worked up over things if they don't work out as planned! Even if we only did our FP and ADRS we will still have an awesome time!

The MK show is officially being broadcasted on Disney Parks Blog on Dec. 31st.

The EPCOT show will not be broadcasted.

Gosh, there's been numerous posts about NYE at Disney and I think every single Dis'er that is going is doing MK on the 30th and Epcot on the 31st. Not a surprise mind you just that one would begin to think, based on reading here, if you did the opposite you'd find no one in each of the parks, LOL
I’m doing the opposite this year. We arrive on the 30th and we want to catch the Epcot holiday food booths. I’ve got a 1 bedroom at VGF for NYE, so we’ll hit MK on the 31st.

Great attitude. I'm adding you as a candidate to my "WDW Guest of the Year". There are others on it but I think you and Klayfish are towards the top. Nothing seems to deter you two from having a good time at WDW.

Well thank you. I have to go in to it with a positive attitude. I really can't, or wouldn't, do it any other way. It costs too much money to go and not have a good time. I can't see planning a trip to go and anticipate disaster. Or plan a trip when I am so disillusioned with Disney I have nothing but negative thoughts.

Did Epcot last year.
Was worried so got there around noon.
Shouldn't have, at no point were folks being stopped.
I know because we used the bathrooms just outside the Intl Gateway,
because they had zero lines like inside and never issue getting in.
(yes we asked before we left)

Did QS for late lunch.
Dinner time on all food spots were busy so we just ate snacks.
Drink lines very long so that saved us money.
Crowded but very doable.
Many seemed to be just camped along lagoon fence or on grass,
blankets, food, board games .... for hours and hours.

LOVED LOVED the dance parties. Italy favorite, China great fun, Classic at UK.

Watched the last fireworks from UK area.
As crush headed to front gate we went out Intl Gateway.
Walked to DHS.
Walked RIGHT ON a coach bus.
Had dedicated bus lanes.
Probably in bed long before we would have gotten on a bus at front of Epcot.

Bucket list to be in a park NYE,
expected to be a nightmare,
was great and would do again in heartbeat.
At Epcot.
No desire to be in MK.

How long is this walk?

How long is this walk?

1 mile, about 20 minutes.
Nice pathway the whole way.
Certainly more pleasant than the crush of crowds going out front gate.
AND it was the same distance
and time to walk to our resort bus stop out front gate ... if no crowds.
Plus we got right on bus vs standing at bus stop forever.

I think I might try this. Thanks for the tip!
