I just got a telephone call from my 32 year old DD a few minutes ago. She called to say that she was bringing over our granddaughters (9 & 11) and would be here between 8:00 and 8:30. WHAT???????

So I say to her, but nobody asked us to watch the girls tonight. She says, yes, I did the other night when you were over. Hum, nope, afraid not.

It's not a big deal; I had actually wondered who was going to watch them tonight because I knew DD & DSIL had plans to go out.

We love having our granddaughters over; just the other week they stayed over the weekend and we baked cookies for 2 days with the little girl up the street.

I know with school (my DD is in nursing school) and being a full time Mom and wife, and the busy days of the Christmas Holiday, that she thought she had asked. So, I told her go ahead, bring them over. I wouldn't have said anything different, unless we actually had plans to go out.

So it is time to break out the snacks and the "non-alcoholic" apple juice. I guess I will be awake at midnight tonight.

Happy New Years Everybody!

You are a great Mother and Grandmother. Enjoy the night.

My in-laws came and "kidnapped" my kids a few days ago... we won't see them until Sat. night and we are still staying home tonight. :lmao: To be honest I am a little sad that this is the first year that we won't be with them at midnight.

Well, better to be with kiddos than alone. I'm not real big on New Years celebrations anyway, and I don't party much in general, but my DS14 has a much better nightlife than I've ever had;). He's hardly been home on this holiday break and tonite is no different. It makes me sad, because it reminds me that it's not long before he's graduated and off at college. I'd better start working on getting a life RIGHT NOW:rolleyes:!

What a sweet Grandma and Mom you are.
Those girls will remember doing this with you. Things are always better at Grandma's

Glad you could take them. I'm sure ya'll will have a great old time. :goodvibes

How nice that you are available!:goodvibes

I'm getting my 2 grandkids (Paul 6, Tabitha 5) Saturday, for the day and an over-nighter. I am taking them with me to church Sunday.

They have already put their request in for Mickey pancakes!;) (Grandma is training them right!:rotfl:)

TC:cool1:

You are a great grandma and mom.

My mom is the same as you. Watches the kids for me at the drop of a hat. Plus my mom lives with her bf so he has to put up with the kiddies too. LOL

I know I don't tell her enough but I am very lucky to have a mom like her as is your daughter. :)

Well, our granddaughters have gone home now. Their Mom picked them up about 2:00 this afternoon. We had a great evening.

You see, we gave them a 4 day Disney cruise as a Christmas present this year. (The 11 year old had cancer 2 years ago, and this trip was promised to the girls when the 11 year old was finished with her treatments.)

We spent the evening looking at pictures of all the different places on the Disney cruise ship and talking about everything that is available for them to do.

We watched some of the Dick Clark/Ryan Seacrest New's Years Eve celebration. We toasted Midnight with sparkling apple juice and shared kissed and hugs with each other - and then the girls went to bed. If they had not come over, DH and I probably would have been asleep before midnight arrived.

All in all, it was a good celebration. Here's to 2010!!!

DH even made homemade Waffles for breakfast this morning -- the girls favorite.
