I just got a telephone call from my 32 year old DD a few minutes ago. She called to say that she was bringing over our granddaughters (9 & 11) and would be here between 8:00 and 8:30. WHAT???????
So I say to her, but nobody asked us to watch the girls tonight. She says, yes, I did the other night when you were over. Hum, nope, afraid not.
It's not a big deal; I had actually wondered who was going to watch them tonight because I knew DD & DSIL had plans to go out.
We love having our granddaughters over; just the other week they stayed over the weekend and we baked cookies for 2 days with the little girl up the street.
I know with school (my DD is in nursing school) and being a full time Mom and wife, and the busy days of the Christmas Holiday, that she thought she had asked. So, I told her go ahead, bring them over. I wouldn't have said anything different, unless we actually had plans to go out.
So it is time to break out the snacks and the "non-alcoholic" apple juice. I guess I will be awake at midnight tonight.
Happy New Years Everybody!

To be honest I am a little sad that this is the first year that we won't be with them at midnight.
. He's hardly been home on this holiday break and tonite is no different. It makes me sad, because it reminds me that it's not long before he's graduated and off at college. I'd better start working on getting a life RIGHT NOW
