New Years Eve - HELP!

Just got tickets to go to the Capital One Bowl on New Years Day - yay! But, thanks to anticipated insane traffic in Tampa for the Outback Bowl the same morning, we'll need to head to Orlando for NYE - kinda late in the game for finding a hotel and activities, no?!

So I need some suggestions. Should we stay near WDW and head to DTD, hoping to find somewhere to eat? (Parks are out - we have FL Seasonal passes and that's a blockout period.)

Or should we stay on Int'l Drive, near Universal? If so, what can we do for NYE?

Other ideas?

We're not looking to party hard - need to be fresh for the next day! - but it would be nice to have dinner and a glass of champagne or something.

go with kissimmee or LBV - try to find a hotel high enough and facing Disney to see the fireworks.

the prices are high

There are all sorts of NYE activities in downtown Orlando--and I imagine the streets will be packed with Gator fans, which will make it even more fun. If you can still get a hotel downtown, I would do that, if for no other reason than to save you some traffic hassles New Year's morning.

Thanks guys! Apparently, I needn't have worried - as usual the Mouse worked it all out - wound up getting a dinner ressie at Raglan Rd. and a night at All Star Sports!

FYI - downtown Orlando was out form the get-go... the only hotels I could find either had minimum stays, only the presidential suite available, or were too scary even for this city-girl :scared: Probably just as well that we NOT be with all the Gator fans - the friend I'm going with is a Michigan fan. ;)

Have a great time! My DH (a die-hard Michigan fan) bought tickets before the teams were announced so you can only imagine how excited he is to be going. If you see a tall blonde guy getting heckled by Gators fans, it's probabably him:rotfl2:
