I'm thinking of going to DL for New Year's Eve, and possibly NYDay this year. I'd like to hear from those who have been what goes on that is special or fun. I'm sure it's crowded, but that doesn't really bother me, as I'd be going by myself. It seems like it would be a festive place to bring in the new year.

Thanks in advance for your tips and info.

I have seen pics of New Year's eve and it is just packed! Plan on getting there early and not leaving the Park. They turn people away because they reach capacity! And if you leave you might not be able to get back in! They have lots of bands all over the park, from pics I've seen and give out hats/noise makers....would be really fun to attend!

New Year's is a lot of fun at Disneyland. Yes, it gets very crowded and can reach capacity on Dec 31. Jan 1 is still crowded but usually doesn't reach capacity.

But then you get year's like this past NYE, where the park was pretty much deserted. It had rained during the day and I guess not many people were not brave enough to tough it out. It turned out being a beautiful night though from what I'm told.

Nothing special on Jan 1, but the holiday decorations are still up. For the eve you get hats and noisemakers, but they don't start passing them out until late afternoon. There is a big countdown at the Castle Hub. When I was younger and Videopolis was still around, there were live bands and dancing. I think I saw New Kids on the Block perform one year. At least it was some boy band, not sure which one.

We had a great time there last NYE. We were lucky in that it had rained all day so the park wasn't as bad as I had expected. We spent the earlier part of the eveining dancing to the DJ at DCA and then saw the Fab Four perform there. Around 10:15 we staked out our spot in front of the castle. This was a ton of fun. They had these huge balls that everyone was hitting around. A warning though: You pretty much have to stand the entire time you are waiting and it is shoulder to shoulder. Also, have a planned meeting place, as it gets hard to keep your party together after the midnight festivities. It is worth it though! Although we did not care about rides, we were able to walk on some stuff after about 12:30. We are going back this year!

Wow- I can't wait!!!

We're leaving the UK on the 27th and will be flying back late on the first.. My partner and I briefly visited the parks in CA as part of a whistlestop round the world trip in 2001, but were so tired we can hardly remember anything about it it.. It'll be the first for the rest of my family, so we're planning like crazy to make the best of our visit. Any must-do's (or must-sees/tastes!!) you guys could recommend would be greatly appreciated.. We're finding the relative lack of information (when compared to wdw) a little hard to overcome. We have ordered the 2006 UG to DL, are there any other resources you'd advise to seek out..?

Thanks everybody!! :earsgirl:
