I know WDW is very busy on NYE and we plan on being at Epcot so my question, is would you book a room for that night at a nearby resort ie walking distance just to save the queues for buses going back to the other resorts?

Claire ;)

Hi,
If you can find a room available at a reasonable price I would say yes but I think you might struggle. This is one of my favourite benefits of owning DVC points at the Boardwalk and the Beach Club not just for NYE but any night it's just a ten minute walk back to the room so no hassle waiting for buses or trams. We are planning to spend NYE at EPCOT this year and have a room at the Boardwalk, we really like it as we go from "country to country as they celebrate NYE at different times of the night.
Good luck.

Mick.

We are planning to be in the Epcot area that night and are staying at VWL - I wouldn't bother unless you want to make it part of a special night. Even if it takes a while to get back to POFQ I am sure everyone will be in the holiday spirit to it won't feel like an effort

Jakki yes I am sure everyone will be in a fine mood, just having a few thoughts at the moment!! At least we have our ADR for dinner booked :)

Mick may see you around we plan to be in the UK for 7pm :teeth:

Claire ;)

Will also be there on NYE and we also have an ADR at Rose and Crown for 7.10.Hoping to get there a little earlier though to see the New Year in.

The thing is we want to go to the Mandara Spa (at the Swan and Dolphin) for a massage whilst at WDW. So I thought do that on NYE morning and then surprise DH with a stay at the Swan or Dolphin that night for NYE after being at Epcot to avoid the crowds after midnight??!!

Just a thought at the moment :)

We will be there NYE in "England" at 7pm. Watch early fireworks, then out for a bite to eat at macdonalds or somewhere else very quick then rest of evening at Downtown Disney and watch firworks there at midnight.

Where ever you stay, aim to get through the gates very very early, EPCOT is the most popular WDW NYE location due to its variety or drinking opportunities. When we went they opened the doors at 5am, by 8 am it was full. Good fun to be sure but very popular.

That sounds like a good plan - then you can just stroll or take a boat back there and have a relaxing late checkout :thumbsup2

Oh Jakki, I may just have to book it!! Will decide in a while. Wonder what the latest safest time we should allow to get into Epcot as alot of places say it is never 'closed'?

Claire ;)

I can't comment on Epcot but we were in MK last NYE and I believe it closed the gates around midday. As for beating the crowds we saw in the New Year about half way up Main Street so headed off a lot of the crowds. It may be an idea to see the fireworks from Mexico or Canada so you can do the same. We got back to our hotel near Universal at around 1am so it wasn't too bad. We will be there again this year and have ADR's for CP. Can't wait :Pinkbounc

We plan to view from around Canada as we have our ADR at Le Cellier for quite late in the evening :)

Hi,
If you don't manage to get a room nearby you could book a taxi to pick you up at the Boardwalk hotel and leave via the International Gateway. Might be less crowded this way. We have an ADR at the Rose & Crown (part of the dining plan) not so much for the quality of the food but more for the atmosphere.

Have fun

Mick.
