So, does anyone know what kind of activities they have for New Year's Eve at the Vero Beach resort? It doesn't seem like the Green Cabin room would hold enough people for the party to only be there. Maybe something at the swimming pool or in one of the convention rooms? Maybe the big tent? Thanks in advance.

Good question, Captain.
I too would like to spend a New Year's at VB, and was wondering the same thing.

If you don't get an answer,we will be there for the annual meeting. Will try to find out as much info as possible for you.Don't know what BIL and SIL got planned for us for New Year's Eve yet.Maybe we can talk them into going to the resort this year.We stay as far away from Vegas as possible on NYE.LOL

Wondering if anyone has been at Vero on New Years Eve. Any special celebrations, need to dress up, etc?

Would appreciate any past experiences from past years.
Thanks!

Looks like there's a few of us interested. Hope the place doesn't get over run with locals who aren't actually staying at the resort. We experienced this on mothers day, where there were tons of pool crashers, who were pretty impolite, especially since they were not paying guests or DVC members. A few of them were bragging about crashing.

I was at VB for New Year's Eve last year. For New Year's Eve, they had a special buffet for dinner. The restaurant also had special menus. As I recall, there were two seating times, one early and one late for both the special buffet and the restaurants. We had the buffet and it was great -- something for everyone "gourmet" to kid-friendly fare. Then, in the evening from about 8:30 to 12:30, in a big tent on the resort grounds, was a family New Year's Eve party with a DJ, dancing, loads of snacks, a cash bar for adults, all kinds of party favors (noisemakers, hats, 2002 glasses, etc.), family contests with small prizes, and fireworks. We had a granddaughter with us and we all had fun! I recommend you try it!

Thanx for the info, KMarie!
Two more Qs: Were people dressed up, or was it more casual? Was it geared more for children, or is it acceptable for adults to get slightly 'in the party mode'?

Thanx again....

Dress for the party was casual. It was geared toward families, but the adults definitely were having a good time. The idea was for family fun. For example, there was a contest for Dads to lip-sink to the song YMCA. The participants, who were asked privately by the DJ to participate, were given outfits to dress like the Village People and lip-sink to the music. Applause from the crowd determined the winner. It was very funny! Every so often, the DJ would declare an adults-only dance and only grown-ups were on the dance floor.

How good were the fireworks? How long did they last? I need a fireworks fix on NYE.

Yes, there was a charge for the party. I don't recall the exact amount per person. Reservations were required. Call the resort at 561-234-2000 and ask for guest services. I called and made our reservations before we went so everything was set when we arrived. The fireworks lasted about 10 minutes or so.

Well, I guess there are no more fireworks and they ended up getting rid of the big party tent. The party is now held at the pool, but we haven't found out if reservations are required. Wouldn't seem likely for the pool area. There are three options for dinner, Sonya's, ($50 buffet), Seagrape room ($24 buffet) and Shutters.

I'm sure it will be fun. Thanks for the number.

Reservations aren't required for the pool party, lots of activities 6 to 9. A big screen TV will be available around the pool area.

No Family New Year's Celebration this year, huh? That's too bad.
:(

Capt. Midnight, when you called, did they happen to say why they changed it?

On the buffet, we went to the one in the Sea Grape Room last year, and thought it was excellent.

Captain Midnight......

So, it's all from 6-9 and then it's over  I'm going to be there myself and was curious what was going to happen. I knew the tent came down and that the Seagrape room was going to be involved, but seems like a lot of other details are still being worked, eh?

Stopped by the front desk this afternoon.CM had nothing to add what was going on for New Year Eves or Day.Didn't know about any type of pool party, bigscreen TV etc. He called the back office.I heard him say "OK I'll come back and pick up the flyer"Well he returns and says bluntly "Were out of flyers. All I know is they are having a buffet at Sonya's and the Green Cabin Room is open".(out of flyers when I heard him say "I'll be back to pick the flyer up" Maybe they are changing things or still don't have things finalized?)That was all the info he would give or had:confused: He was also pretty blunt with a couple before me that was checking in for a few days. They were all excited to be there, asking questions etc.Not one crack of a smile.1st time I met this CM but he either was having a bad day or out of the loop.

Must have been the same guy that checked us in last month
;) They don't really seem to have their act together with regards to NYE....I had the same experience at Thanksgiving...everyone I spoke with only could provide sketchy details....doesn't look like much has changed.
