Arriving New Years Eve and not sure which park to hit.
Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Kevin

You'll probably get a range of recommendations on this one. We spent NYE 2004 at the MK. It was fantastic! Lots of people like the atmosphere of EPCOT, especially if you'd enjoy ringing in the new year with your beverage of choice.

The parks usually hand out noise makers and party hats at designated spots throughout the parks.

The parks (especially MK and EPCOT) will probably be closed at capacity by mid-morning. Plan on getting to your park of choice as soon after opening as possible, and don't leave unless you can handle not being able to return.

Don't plan on being able to do everything in said park on this day. It will be crowded with a capital "C". Utilize fast pass and take advantage of the seasonal attractions.

If you don't have an ADR, plan on standing in long lines for counter service. You won't be able to walk up to a sit-down restaurant and wait for an available table. Everything is booked, and there will be no last minute availability.

Have a fantastic time! We can't wait to do this again! :thumbsup2

:welcome: to the DIS!!!

Are you staying onsite at a Disney resort or off site? Also, what time do you plan on arriving to WDW?

Hey! I spent New years eve at MGM two years ago and it was great! They give out plastic top hats that are pretty cool, and they setup adult beverage carts. However, the parks are packed so plan to get to one park early and plan on staying all day! I know that MK fills up before noon so if you want to go there get there early!

Each park has an amazing fireworks show to ring in the new year, and you can't go wrong no matter which park you are in. I liked spending new years at MGM.

Hello Everyone,

I am new to DIS so I am not sure I am responding correctly to all that have responded.
Our plane doe not get in till 11:30 so sound like we my be out of luck on the parks for New Years Eve. Oh well, we will find something to do I am sure. Wife and kid don't make it to Midnight anyway. So, we will be up early on New Years Day and hit it hard.

Has anyone rented a car for just one day to make grocery run?

Thanks for all of your comment, they have already help on our planning.

Kevin

We spent last NYE in Epcot. Friends of ours were in MK (and we were in MK the prior NYE).
Last year in Epcot and MK they were really chinzy on handing out hats and horns. Get in line early if you really want any (free).
Be prepared! Any park open until midnight will be crammed and a madhouse.
Last NYE we saw a 4 hour wait for Soarin'.
We did enter Epcot late afternoon, but it closed soon afterwards. Once MK maxed out, everyone headed to Epcot.

You're doing fine :).

You might still be able to make it into Epcot or MGM is you are staying at a Disney resort. The bus will take you right to the park. Be prepared for HUGE crowds and not being able to get on anything. Epcot might be best for you because they have two versions of IllumiNations, one at 9:30 and another at midnight. You can get hats and noisemakers around 6ish. If you don't want to blow a day on your tickets, hanging out at Boardwalk is also fun. They have a DJ spinning tunes and there are places to eat and even pick up a quick bite. If you want to eat at one of the sit-down restaurants call now and see if you can make a reservation. You cannot just walk-in to sit-down restaurants these days.

Lastly ... you can rent a car at the airport to grocery shop but that's pretty expensive. You may want to look into having groceries delivered by a place like this: http://www.wegoshop.com/

If you are staying off-site in a non-Disney hotel things are harder since all the parking lots will be closed by mid-day.

We are staying at SSR so we my hit the Boardwalk and save our tickets.

Thanks for the info, and have a great time at WDW!
