New Years Eve At MK

Has anyone spent New Years Eve at the Magic Kingdom? I have heard that one should plan on staying in the park all day long for in order to be there for the midnight countdown due to the fact that the park fills to capacity.

Can you re-enter with a hand stamp? What if you have a PS at one of the restaurants? Are PS's even available?

Any info would be appreciated. My DD & boyfriend will be at OKW for the New Year and do not want to do the PI thing and are really looking forward to being in MK for the countdown.
