New Years Eve at Disneyland?

So, Disneyland on NYE is insane. What about DCA? And what is New Years day like in the two parks?
This,

and also...
if and when Disneyland reaches full capacity and starts restricting entrance into the parks (but you have a handstamp) would it be impossible to return to the park at like 10pm? In other words, would they not allow you to enter even if you had a handstamp? (I'm asking this because I'm thinking maybe it would be so crowded that you would not be able to even enter the park because they physically can't fit any more people)

Lastly, what time should we "park" if we want to see the fireworks and be in the park?

Thanks! :goodvibes

Yes, if the park hits max capacity (and it usually does) no one enters. Last year, this happened around 5 I think. I've seen it happen as early as noon (but it reopened briefly around 4 for a couple hours, then reclosed by 7.) If it rains, it will clear people out.

As for parking for fireworks, I'd say by 7 for a poor spot and 2-3 for a good spot.

We were there last year...spent it at DCA and didn't find it all that crowded. I have been on weekends that were more crowded. Loved the whole party atmosphere.

Did they have fireworks at DCA?

Thanks for this info....I've been wondering if DCA would be the better alternative for a bit now. Did they still have pretty fun going on's and did you have to stay there all day or could you come and go? I'm sure it will depend on if DL has overflow but if it's doable we might like to try that. We are staying on site so we will be close enough to play it a bit by ear. My thought is a nice dinner around 7:00 and then just take in the atmosphere for a bit....did they still do World of Color?

My luck I would make dining reservations, not be able to enter, and then get charged for a no show :lmao:

We have gone & are part of the "loved it group" but it was extremely packed. We usually go during summertime & are used to the crowds but this was outrageously crowded. We had reservation in DTD & didn't go due to max capacity & the fear of not getting back into DL. With fastpass & a plan & the understanding it's packed you can still have a blast. I cant wait to do it Again :-)

thank you all for all the tips!!:goodvibes

Will come in handy in 107 more days but hey....whose counting??:rotfl:

Thanks 5forMickey! I love my drivers license pic also. Mostly because it makes everyone that sees it smile! It's always fun to turn a grumpy TSA worker's day around when I hand them my ticket and license.:thumbsup2 Just my way of spreading a little Disney magic.pixiedust:

Jeez, I just saw this today; In NJ we are not even allowed to smile anymore. Or wear hats, etc. I love yours.

Thanks for the link. I think I am suddenly going to DL this year for NYE. I was planning on going NEXT NYE, and DH said, why don't you go this year? i said, oh it is too late to plan that, etc.

But I got a great room rate and found flights that were high but whatever (from NJ). We would arrive on NYE, which is not ideal.... but we are really coming to see the holiday decorations, parades, and rides like Small World.

I am questioning if we will even enter the park on NYE, we will be very tired from the long flight and the time change. (if we did, it would be DCA not DL)

Sorry...I missed the question about fireworks at DCA. There were no fireworks at DCA. They did do a special showing of WOC. We didn't stay for it though...we intended to, but didn't dress warmly enough and decided to bail around 11:00 pm.

I was really worried about the crowds. We flew down that morning and arrived around 11:00 am. I am normally a rope drop type of person. RSR fast passes were gone when we arrived. But, we rode it single rider twice with around a 20 minute wait each time. We rode TOT, Screaming, TSMM, Little Mermaid, Monster's Inc and saw Aladdin. We didn't eat at any table service places, but had lunch at Flo's (practically walked right up to order and no trouble getting a booth inside) and dinner at Pacific Wharf. Lines to get drinks over by the Mad Tea Party area were practically walk up. No issues getting party hats or blowers that they were handing out. Things were not walk on, but I didn't find the crowds to be particularly bad either. Like I said on an early reply, I have seen a lot worse during the summer.

I would totally do it again...but, would plan on bringing warmer clothes. I was wearing jeans, a long sleeve shirt and I brought a fleece jacket. At times during the day I was a little warm, but basically pretty comfy until after the sun went down.

Here is a pic over by TOT...this was an area off to the side where they were handing out blowers and hats.

I on NYE and it was very crowded. I am glad I have gone once in my lifetime but I can't imagine ever wanting to do that again. It was a madhouse.
