New Year's Eve at Boardwalk?? or MGM??

We are visiting Epcot on NYE and staying for early fireworks, we have got an ADR at Rose & Crown. We will probably leave before late fireworks and go to the Boardwalk. Is there anything special going on there? Is there a good spot on the Boardwalk where we would be able to view fireworks at Epcot and MGM?
Another option would be to leave Epcot about 9:00 and walk over to MGM to spend the last couple of hours there. What do you think our chances are of getting in? I know that the parks reach capacity during the day but I was thinking that some people would perhaps empty out late evening. Have you been able to get in at that time of night? We are staying at BCV.

Sometimes at BoardWalk they will have a DJ entertaining sort of in the middle of the BWK, near the surrey bike rental, sometimes they set up near the Dance Hall.
But, I think you would be crazy to leave Epcot and miss their extended Fireworks after IllumiNations.

Both parks will be crowded so I don't think you would be able to get back in after you left. You might be able to see some of the fireworks from the bridges close to Boardwalk. Personally I would stay in Epcot and see all the fireworks and the show.

We were just there this New Years Eve. We Had dinner reservations at 5:30 at Shula's, then we went to the Boardwalk Dance Party until 9pm, it was fun, the DJ was Great and really got the crowd into it. By the way the crowd was not bad at all, really, it was Great. Then we went to Epcot, we got in fine no problems at all. I think it was around 9:30 or so when we got there and it was packed, iy was so hard to move. We stayed until Midnight which was AMAZING! You should really be in there when it stikes 12, OH MY GOD, it was GREAT! You don't want to miss it for anything. But if you want to stay away from the crowd, you can see the Fireworks from the Bridge between Epcot and the Boardwalk.

Thanks for the replies. Are the fireworks at Epcot really that special? How different to Illuminations? How do the fireworks at MGM compare?

I have never seen the fireworks at MGM, in Epcot Each country will shoot off fireworks as they are announced, the earth ball in the lagoon shows a count down, at midnight the fireworks start there are just so many it is unbelievable
the ground was vibrating. There were fireworks all around you, at one point they are playing the music "Let there be Peace on Earth" My 4 yr old couldn't believe what he was seeing, he kept saying "look, do you see that?" "look at all of them" I know I am not explaining this well, we were just amazed by it all.
Maybe someone else can describe the fireworks better. You can also see MK fireworks going off in the background of Epcot fireworks that was neat.
No matter what park you are in you will enjoy it. After reading and writing this I think I will be going back for New Years sooner rather then later.
