I keep reading that the first two weeks of December are big for DVC....which we found because we almost didnt have a spot to stay for our trip this year....anyways....what is it like to get DVC resorts for the first week of Jan?

Are there other times during the year when DVC is close to full?

DVC is a timeshare, and as such, it is designed to be near total occupancy at all times. That being said, there are times that book up faster than others, and those would be all holiday seasons, the first two weeks of December, spring break time etc. The easiest times to book are late January, late August, and September.

From our experience the first week in January is a very popular DVC week. I called at exactly 11 months out for our home resort, BWV, and was waitlested for a couple of the days. I wanted a standard view and that is usually the first to go besides the BoardWalk view.

Good Luck!

From reading these BOards, I woudl say that New Years Eve may be the single most popluar night for DVC. The first week of January will depend on the calendar. On years when most kids go back to school early in the month, it will be less busy than when the holiday vacation extends well into January. Best of luck -- Suzanne

I had the same thing planed in a couple of years, but with the new booking policy I have given up on starting a vacation on New Years Eve. All the members who are staying at their home resort 12/31 will have priority for that night for that night at their home resort.

Woodcourt,
Jan is getting to be pretty popular, too. There is NYE already discussed. Then, Marathon Weekend next year's dates: Jan 8-11, 2009. Then, Martin Luther King (third Monday) holiday weekend and then the tail end of Jan sees an upswing in activity with some Northeast school districts having a short winter holiday break.

It is always a good idea to make your ressies as far ahead as possible.

If you mean Jan 1 to Jan 8 we have found no problem getting that for BWV boardwalk view and AKV savanna by calling about 10 1/2 months out but I would not delay much beyond that particularly for first few days of Jan. Your real crowded days depend on when Jan 1 falls. Next year it will be a Thursday and you should expect heavy booking through Sunday the 4th. When Jan 1 falls on a Sunday or Monday, booking Tuesday on should not be much problem.

If you mean night of December 31, you should call to reserve at the first opportunity (11 months out) because it goes quickly.

My wife and I will be there Jan 1st - 10th. I called day by day right at the 7th month mark. I was looking for a studio.

Jan 1st was booked at all resorts. AKL Sav view waitlist came through in 2 days.

Jan 2-3 staying at POR

Jan 4-6 Got a Standard view room at BWV. First Choice

Jan 7-8 WLV. My first choice was to stay at BWV in a standard view room. They were booked up but Prefered view was still available. Since I was going to move anyways we dicided to try WLV. I think it was booking up because of the Marathon the second weekend.

Jan 9-10 staying at PO FQ.

I know it is a lot of moving but it is only the two of us and we are excited to see different things. If we had my kids with me we wouldn't do it. They are disappointed but they don't get to go on the Honeymoon. :rotfl2:

Can't wait!!!
