New Years Eve 2016!

WOW! I am so so happy you posted. We are staying at SSR and want to do Epcot but was so worried we wouldnt get back to our room before 3 am. I wouldnt even care but my family of four, kids 22 and 18, has a flight back home the next day.

We have 9 pm dinner at Yachtsman and planned on going to Epcot if we were done with dinner. If not, either way we will be in the Boardwalk/Epcot area.

Hw did you get back to SSR? Just the bus Im guessing. Maybe I should walk from Epcot and catch a bus from BW or YC. Do yo agree?

Thanks.
We watched the fireworks from somewhere around Rose and Crown. As soon as they were over we made a beeline out of the park, using the backstage exit that I mentioned behind Canada. When we got to the bus stop we didn't have to wait long for our bus. But I think that is the luck of the draw.

There are no buses from BW or YC to SSR. You have to take a bus from the park. How are you getting to Yachtsman?

Thank you very much for your answer. We are taking the bus to Yachtsman. Should I allow two hours? Is that enough time to get there? Can I take a bus from SSR to Boardwalk?

Thanks!

No, you cannot take a bus from hotel to hotel. I think your best option would be to walk over to DS and take a bus from there to YC. Or get on the first park bus that comes along and then transfer to a resort bus. The other option would be to take a cab, which shouldn't be too much as it's only a 5 mile drive. You will have to repeat this process getting back to SSR, and if it is after midnight it could be quite the long night for you. I'd go into Epcot and then take a bus from there to SSR.

I might have missed this in the thread... But what time does the New Year's Eve Eve fireworks on the 30th start?

We just booked for 11 pm at tomorrowland terrace on the 31st... I believe the same is available for the 30th.

So, has anyone spent New Year's Eve at the Magic Kingdom? I'm reading how crowded it is there on that night, but not too many actual experiences. We do plan to go to the Magic Kingdom this New Year's Eve. Where is the best place to view the countdown and how about what time should we stake out our spot? Where do they hand out the hats and horns and what time? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

I did once, years ago, it was fun but nothing compares with Epcot on NYE, that's where we for now.
Here's a video that pretty much sums it all up,
Anywhere at MK will be fine to see the fireworks, great locations are at Frontierland, behind the castle by Beasts castle, over by Dumbo. Not sure where they hand out the hats and horns but it's porbably several locations around the park
Advice: For MK you ust go early to avoid being shut out.
Eat at off times, early lunch (10:30am) early dinner (4pm)
Don't wait to go to the bathroom, seriously, the lines can get cray at restrooms
Don't expect to do too many attractions
Go with the flow
Be prepared to stay very late, no point in leaving right after fireworks, you will encounter long lines and also all the streets and highways around WDW are completely at a stand still. We usually stay inside Epcot, sitting on a bench, seeing the hoards of people leave, we exit the park around 2pm and have minimal traffic issues
Here is another video, from Dec. 29th 2011
360 of the countdown from Town Square

Does anyone know how much an NYE Illuminations Cruise costs? Has anyone done this, what did you think of it?
I have participated in an Illuminations NYE cruise twice and very much enjoyed it. Both of those times I was able to join someone else's cruise. The cost comes to $100 per person, I do not remember if that included the tip. The captains provided champagne and other special things.

I joined groups using the Theme Parks Community board. One December 30th we booked a MK cruise, and used the same board to get the 8 other people who shared out boat. I think the price that night came to about $60 or $70 per person, that time.

We're going to DHS on the 31st this year....MK fireworks on the 30th.

Love seeing fireworks at WDW that time of the year!

Hi~~
Can you tell me how i would go about reserving the Illuminations cruise for NYE? I tried searching but nothing has come up. I would love to be able to share a boat with others. We are 3 adults looking to book this.

:thanks:

edit: I found it :-)

It is called the Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace.

Hi, There's a lot of confusion as to what boat i have reserved. I'll be checking in a week or so to see if it's for the 6pm illuminations.
It seems it's for just a cruise around the lagoon. As soon as i know more i'll let you know.
