Thank goodness!!! I started to read the thread but the DIS is being supers-l-o-w today so gave up. Plus the OP comment seemed so calculated to stir things up...

I have an issue on the UK trip reports board at the mo. A member has posted a photo of her DD sunbathing (think bikini, tattoos etc) and specifically said "this one's for the boys" ie: supposedly family men who should know better. I'm surprised at my own reaction to this as I'm usually so laid back but quite frankly, I'm appalled! It seems so disrespectful...

But enough of that! I've decorated my multi-coloured, no-theme-whatsoever, explosion-in-a-bauble-factory tree this afternoon. It's feeling more Christmassy by the second...

Thanks Tigg! It's certainly looking lovely now it's dark outside and the tree is twinkling away... It's my fave room but it's currently dominated by a huge dining/pool table my DH wanted - I'd like to be able to look straight through and just appreciate the space. I'm thinking about having a basement dug out to house an alternative dining/games room...

Nan, I remember a thread you posted on recently that cracked me up! You were sort-of arguing with some Canadians about maternity leave! I even showed Chad, you were really shaking your fist. We were shouting "Go Nan, go Nan!!!!!"

Some 'bad' news (it's all relative) - I just cancelled our cruise reservation. It's just not in the cards for us financially. The add-on at AKL, and 4 Disney vacations in 2 years is just too much, not to mention I'm kinda getting Disney-ed out.

I'm bummed that we won't get to see/meet you all. I'll still be hanging out here though, so don't you worry

ya, it was really blowing my mind to hear that people believe that a state sponsored maternity benefit was not a tax, when you have a liability to pay into it. And that since I don't like to be taxed for such benefits that I clearly must have defunked family values. Whatever... I'm sticking with my conservative values and I'll pay my own way thank you. (just wish everyone else would too!)

Sometimes it's hard not to argue with people just for the arguement, but frankly some of those kind of people are so dumb, what's the point of kicking them when they are already down in iq points to begin with?

I do, as you well know, enjoy a good spar with someone that can fight back on the same level.

I'm so sorry you won't be with us, but I totally understand about the finances. Why can't we all be rich! I haven't taken a real vacation since summer 2006, and won't be going anywhere until the cruise. At this moment, I'm waiting for the carpet man to get here for my basement, and that's going to cost a bundle. And Jesse's septum surgery next month, and Christmas... Grim, we really will all have a reunion someday.


About your birthday, I remembered because today is MY birthday, and I remembered yours was right before mine!

I'm really nervous about the carpet guy coming. I'm home alone, and I hate to direct workers. I hope he doesn't ask me any questions and it just turns out to be a simple job.
