Now that's my kind of man!::thumbsup2

Mel never says buy this or buy that, but I have to admit he's very good with how I spend money, especially since I stopped working last summer so I'm no longer contributing financially to the household. He takes his spending money out of his check, and trusts the rest to me.:cool1:
Jade, it's great that you're a such a good money manager!

Debbie, I didn't get a chance to tell you, I love it that Jeff had flowers waiting for you for your first-meeting anniversary. Train him well, sistah! How's it going with your son back home?

And to Karen, Happy Real Birthday today! (I know it's already tomorrow across the pond!)

Hi all! :wave2: Hope you're all having a good weekend...

Weather here is very poor - currently the rain is pounding on the conservatory and deafening me!

Tomorrow, all members of our NYE cruising party are getting together for Sunday lunch - I'll try and remember to take my camera to the restaurant and see if I can get us on film... ;)

Tigg, inspired by some of your wonderful photos on the 'DCL pic of the day' thread, I've just bought a new Canon Powershot S51S! :thumbsup2

It's not a DSLR but IMO is a step up from the basic Pentax P&S I'm used to. Here are the details - do you think it sounds OK?

8.0 effective megapixels.
12x optical zoom, 4x digital zoom with image stabilisation.
High resolution (207,000 pixel) 2.5" vari-angle LCD screen.
Face detection in still image capture and movie mode.
DIGIC III advanced noise-reduction and iSAPS.
Red-eye reduction in playback.
6.0 – 72.0mm focal length.
UD lens with ultrasonic motor.
ISO sensitivity: 100 – 1600, plus auto ISO shift.
Shooting modes: auto, program, shutter priority, aperture priority, manual, custom, portrait, landscape, night snapshot, sports, stitch assist, movie, super macro, special scene - indoor, night scene, foliage, snow, beach, fireworks, aquarium, colour accent, colour swap)... :flower3:

Wow. Yes, it sounds like it has everything!

The image stabilization, face detection, ISO range and telephoto range =

Impressive!

Happy Birthday to You!

Did you get yourself a good amount of memory?

Hey, great picture:goodvibes

We had a blues concert at our American Legion today. The weather was super. Almost 100 people showed up. I am the "Historian" I only took 192 pictures.

:rolleyes1

Jill, I admire you so much for your exciting life. You sure know how to live.
What do you do as the historian? Do you have to organize all the pictures?

Tiggie, wow, that's the first time I've seen that photo. Again, let me say it was GREAT spending a little time with you all. I miss you!

Jesse's at a party, and Im waiting to pick him up, so guess what, I decided to take a few pictures for your viewing pleasure!:lmao: Let me explain first why all of a sudden I'm photo-happy. We have only one digital camera in our family, which Chad usually has with him. Well, I took the camera to get some shots for DisUnc, and now I'm a point and click fool! As you can see by the quality of the shots, I totally don't understand any of the camera features. But I shall learn!
First, the Dakota, John Lennon's building on 72nd and Central Park West. Yoko Ono still lives there.

The next three are Times Square, and with all the lights, I didn't know what setting to put the camera on.

I drove around, and called Jesse, but he still isn't ready to come home. There are still a bunch of kids at the party, so I just came home and will go back out in a little while to get him. Times Square is a madhouse day or night, but if you're ever in the NYC, you have to see it. It's very exciting, especially at night.

Chad is so cute; he and Louise are watching High School Musical!

And I have news: my brother John is about to be a daddy to a son! Yes, Kristin called and sald her ultrasound confirmed it's a boy. They're THRILLED. They have two adorable girls, 6 and 8, so my neices said it'll be "wierd" (is that how you spell it?) to have a baby brother. Now the fight begins over names! She's 5.5 months along, and everything is going well. Just wanted to share.:grouphug:

Karen...nice new camera....along with my Nikon D50 i have the Canon S800 (for those days/trips when i want a very small lightweight camera) & i really love it......

Aisling....your photos have me even more anxious for our trip to NYC....we will be seeing Wicked on the Sat night we're there & we have our tix for the Yankees game on Sunday.

Happy Birthday to You!

Did you get yourself a good amount of memory?

Phew! I was impressed myself but that's not hard! I think it comes with 1GB SD card... Can't wait for it to arrive - I will be taking it to Spain in a couple of weeks... :woohoo:

Sounds excellent, Jill! :thumbsup2 BTW I just love that photo of you on your bike...

Aisling, your NYC photos bring back some memories! We all stayed at the Marriot Marquis in Times Square over New Year in 2000 and had an unforgettable time... I need to come back soon!!!! :cloud9:

Good Morning Mateys....just over on the POTD thread (Aisling & Collen - LOVE the photos posted) and each time i scroll thru there - just makes me more anxious for our NYE cruise....

I'm all caught up on reading my subscribed threads so while DH sleeps .....and DS went to a dance in Santa Cruz last night so he's at a friend's house till tomorrow - i just may get some things done today....you know - like "DOMESTIC" stuff.....uggghhhn - i'll bet there's 5 loads of laundry for sure:laundy: .....catch all later. Will upload my photos from yesterday's game and share a few later......have a great sunday
