Hi everyone! Not sure how many of you have been in the world on New Years Eve but this year my DH and I wanted to give it a try. Where do you suggest we spend the year ringing it in Mouse style, Magic Kingdom or Ecpot? Please let me know any opinions/suggestions you might have. Thanks so much! Have a magical day!!

:wave2: :bounce:  :Pinkbounc :cool1:

If everyone in your group is old enough to drink, do Epcot. If not MK! They are both busy though so beware. Get there early. Epcot will close the park at 1030 because it's full! MK will normally close a little later!

We've done New Years Eve at WDW and I'd say you are better off at Epcot. They both get crowded (and closed when they reach capacity) but it seems you have more room at Epcot so you don't feel the crowds as much. Just get there early and plan for a long day because if you leave and the park is closed after you leave, you cannot be readmitted until park attendance drops. Crowds and all, though, it is still great fun! Oh, and if you can get up early the next morning, the crowds will be light! :thumbsup2

No champagne toast at midnight at the MK, no alcohol anywhere in the park.
Now, Epcot on the other hand.... :cool1: :drinking1 party: :drinking:

We did NYE once, in 2003/04. We were at Epcot and although the fastpasses went quickly, we had a nice enjoyable day. There is, as people say, lots more room at Epcot for the crowds to spread out. After dinner I took 2 of the kids back to the hotel, however, because they pass out the NYE horns and people are honking them in your ears over and over again....I could not take it. DH and DD#1 stayed a couple hours later than we did and then returned as well.
Luckily we had a Contemporary room with a view of MK so we still got to see awesome fireworks...and then we went to bed!

EPCOT is awesome.
The last couple of years they have had the new years eve fireworks at MK the night before, so it was fun seeing both, but id go to Epcot for new years eve.

I did MGM in years past and it was great. In fact, in the 1998/99 New Years, they had the Doobie Brothers and the Bacon Brothers Band (w/ Kevin Bacon) playing. It was great fun! Anyone know if MGM still does it up big?

My family and I will be spending NYE at MGM this year. There is a special parade and fireworks. When I made my ADR for dinner at the Prime Time the CM said to be sure to be in the park by 10 am because all the parks may close early due to reaching capacity on that day. We plan to be there bright and early and make a day of it. Yes I have been in the MK on NYE and it was Body to Body but so is Time Square and any other large NYE event.

We have spent the last four xmas weeks at wdw and 3 NYE's there. If you choose MK make sure to get there very early and plan to stay..if you leave, you may not be able to re-enter MK. It was closed to all guests(including resort guests) by 10am all three years. You can't get back in even with ADR(our friends lost theirs at LTT because they could not get back in for 7pm. We spent 2 NYE's split between MGM and Epcot. 2003-4 we started in MGM then went to epcot at 4:30 and had 8:15pm reservations at Teppanyaki(which we still had to wait over 45 min); MGM was really easy touring and Epcot was crowded but alot of fun. 2004-5 we started at epcot and were in MGM by 11am and stayed the night with dinner at Brrown Derby and did the last fantasmic. They also had great fireworks(Fantasy in the Sky) which we watched from our room at Swan to avoid the mass exodus after midnight. Just make sure to have a ADR for the park you want to be in for NYE and epcot/mgm park hopping has been fine for us..would not attempt at MK. We are there for this xmas, but are leaving 12/29/06 this year.
