Hi everybody, This is my 1st post. So be gentlle with me
We arrive (DW AND 2 DD'S) at our villa (Indian Creek) on New Years Eve hopefully around 6.00pm.
2 questions
Will the Publix / supermarkets be open?
and
What is the best park / attraction to visit on NYDay for a gentle start to our holiday?
Any suggestions would be a great help :D

Hi Bleubaloo! Welcome to the boards!

I don't know the answer about Publix, but I'm sure someone will.

What is the best park / attraction to visit on NYDay for a gentle start to our holiday
If you're up bright and early on your first morning (as you're likely to be, due to the UK/US time difference), you're likely to be one step ahead of everyone else who was up seeing in the new year - make the most of it and head for any of the main parks before everyone else gets there! By the time they arrive, you'll be ready to head back for a rest at the villa ;)

(Of course, depending on the type of tickets you have, this may not be a sensible use of a day's admission.)

The nearest Publix to your resort is at Orange Lake Country Club, about a mile or so further West on US 192. When I last visited in October last year, the store stayed open till 10pm, so you should be ok for getting there before it closes.

As for where to go on New Years Day, that'd have to be a personal call, partly depending on what you're doing to celebrate on New Years Eve itself. My crew and I are going to Universal Studios or Islands Of Adventure for New Years Eve.

If you do something Disney, I'd be tempted to cut the sugar with a visit to US or IOA. Overall, and especially if you want Disney, I think MGM is the best park to ease you into your holiday - it's great fun, but is also small enough that you dont need to be there from dawn to dusk to get everything in, a good thing on your first day after all that travelling.

MGM always seems much smaller than Magic Kingdom and Epcot to me, am I wrong ? Either way, I love it and never miss it.

Second choice would be Seaworld for me - lots of opportunities to sit down ! ;)

Hope this helps ! :D
