Hi there!

We are staying at OKW for the week after Christmas through New Year's. Does anyone have any suggestions for New Year's Eve for the resort or in WDW area...we want to go out with the kids ...ages 11 and 7....

Thanks!

We will also be at OKW from 12/28-1/02/04. we were there last year and started NY eve at MGM and then to Epcot for PS at Teppanyaki. It was very crowded and they handed out hat and noise makers. If it hadn't poured , we would have stayed until 12 but we did leave after our meal around 10pm and went to BW while DH retrieved car fro MGM. Then home to OKW to watch ball drop and see some of the fireworks from Epcot from our patio. Hope no repeat of the rain this year. We had new year's breakfast at 1900 PF and then toured MK. Very quiet! Alot of folks had holiday lights up at OKW along with the resort decorations, it was very festive. Can't wait to return.

We were also at OKW last NYE in the downpour. We spent the day at Epcot. Epcot had a NYE dinner buffet in the Millenium pavillion, it was really nice. They didn't start taking reservations until about a month before. We originally had PS at Teppanyaki and then we switched to the buffet. It was really nice. They also had two DJ's set up in the park, one in FW and one in WS, with video screens and a dance area. That was a lot of fun in the rain. There was live music and dancing in the Millenium Pavillion. They did Illuminations twice and a specatacular International fireworks show at midnight. It was awesome. We were disappointed that it rained so hard, but it sure cleared out the crowds and once we were soaked, it just didn't matter any more.

Dbond, do you remember if kids were allowed at that buffet? That's our main problem...most events are adults only.

Also, how did you book...was it through regular dining #?

Thanks!

Yes, children were included in the buffet and the live music/dancing later in the evening. Our children are 18,15 & 8, they had a blast. The buffet was by reservation only, we made our reservations through Disney Dining about a month or so before. The live music and dancing later was for anyone in the park. I found out about the buffet through these boards. Disney didn't make a big deal advertising it, in fact when I did call to make my ressies, I had to insist with the CM that I knew what I was talking about until she found it.

We were at DW last NYE also. My two DS, age 16 & 12, were with us as well as my DD21 and her boyfriend. We all had a blast and didn't mind the rain at all. We loved the hats and horns. The kids had fun with that. I didn't know about the buffet or we would have made reservations too. We just ate in the park. NYE at WDW is wonderful. I would do it again in a hearbeat except that I'm going cruising instead. Have fun on your trip! :D

sounds like everbody will be at OKW and going to EPCOT on the 12/31. That is our plan for this year. Anybody remember the price of the buffet? We were at EPCOT last year over christmas and don't recall the Millenium Pavillion ? Is it covered /enclosed, what type of food??

Pentex We have DD 11 and DS 7 . Maybe the kids should all hang out together and the adults can do adult stuff?? LOL
Kids will want to stay out later then us.

The Millenium Pavillion (they probably call it something different now, I just don't recall) is that building that they built for the Millenium celebration and it had many more countries represented than the current WS countries. The building is still there, it's in between Canada & UK, but unless there is an event in there, it's not currently accessible to park guests. I don't keep good enough records to remember how much it was, sorry!

Thanks for the info.We saw the millenium celebration , but just assumed it was torn down after it closed. I will keep my eyes open for info on NYE 2003.

Nye is a great time to visit WDW. Last year we also ate at the buffet at epcot. When we finished eating it was pouring outside and we got soaked. After watching the first fireworks display we returned to our Boardwalk room to dry off and then we watched the ball drop on TV. We also watched the midnight display at epcot from our balcony right above the Big River Brewing Co. We will be staying at the Beach Club Villas this year with a Check in date of 12/28. Be sure to call 90 days out and make your NYE Epcot Dining ressie. Also the Candlelight Processional package is a not to be missed event if you arrive before Dec. 30.
