Snacking here too, and that's very specifically snacking after dinner!
I am struggling with this! Years ago, when I first lost weight, I would have a half cup of fruit as dessert. And that was the last planned thing to eat at night. I usually did pineapple because that’s my favorite! So it was a treat. Then if I was still hungry later in the evening, I would try drinking water. If that didn’t work, I would just go to bed. Some nights I was going to bed at 8/8:30 because I was trying to train myself to not eat anything else after that fruit. It was HARD! And now, sometimes I can’t just go to bed because my son has basketball practice from 8-9pm or my daughter had indoor hockey practice until 8:30. But I think I will try to plan fruit that I enjoy as my last planned thing to eat and drink water afterwards.Let's talk about night time snacking or quit your diet at night. Why oh why is it so hard at times? Any tips and tricks and thoughts on how to do better at night?
There is actually a great program for scholarships for high school students to come to Germany for a year. It has run for a long time. I did a one year exchange to Denmark and it was an amazing experience for me. If he is that much interested in Germany, he might find it interesting. I know, a year is long, but it let's you really get settled into your host family and school and you experience every season. More info is here: https://www.usagermanyscholarship.org As far as I know it really varies how competitive it is (some areas might have 20 applicants for one spot, others only two), so don't be discouraged by it sounding like you had to be some kind of super student to get a spot. I have been a volunteer for one of the organizations that are dealing with the program for a long time and have met many American students who came to Germany that way, that's how I know about the program.
@piglet1979 I hope you are all Feeling better soon! And that Story with the other Coach is scary!! Have other Teams playing that Team had Problems, too? And what do the parents on that Team say?? Really strange, one would think that with this Kind of behaviour he would be out very quickly!
I love this idea! Definitely one for me to try!My best trick to avoid snacking in the evening is to brush my teeth after dinner.
"Every day I do simple things that make me feel better" |
“Every day I make small changes to build a healthy body and healthy mind” |
“I always feel good. As a result, my body feels good and I radiate good feelings.” |
“I am enough and I take actions each day to create health and fulfilment”. |
It's very hard habit to get rid of! I guess if I get rid of the mindless snacking and have something I planned for before bed it wouldn't bad thing. Hot chocolate on cold day is lovely end of day@piglet1979, how awful for the kids and parents! Hope it all works out.
Yes, snacking is a problem for me right now. Maybe because it’s cold and I’m sitting in front of the fireplace and a cookie just seems like a good idea. I like the idea of planning for that snack. I will try the hot chocolate because it’s a good source of calcium and takes a while to drink.
Monday Question:
My bad Habit is that I tend to eat too Little in order to save calories and then it backfires.
It was kind of scary. Even as our coach was walking away the other coach was yelling and trying to get at our coach. The team is standing behind our coach who is normally a really quit guy and a really good coach. We are most likely not playing our game next week as we play right after the team we played Saturday. There are talks that we will just go do something fun as a team to avoid running into that team again. The kids don't even want to go to the game because of this other coach. In all my years of watching and playing sports I have never seen a coach like this before.

I like your “quit tomorrow”. So many time it’s “I’ll get back on track tomorrow”. But that small change in mindset can go a long way!
we bought a house with north west facing garden last year. After full year of trying to sell and buy and over 93 houses viewed we bought house we love but unfortunately we had to make some compromises adn I did not get my south facing garden. I was told from our neighbours once the spring comes and the longer days we get sun in the garden from west all evening. The Sunset in Ireland in the summer is 10 pm, I will be very happy if we get the sun. At the moment sunset is about 5 and sometimes it feels darker earlier and sunrise is 8:30. Looking forward to longer days and waiting to see if my garden gets some sun at the back!I realized today that the sunrise will soon be before 8 am again! I am so happy that the days are starting to get longer again! I am thinking that with a 8 am sunrise, it ought to be light enough outside to go for a run at 7:30 am - before work!
