New: Worldwide Travel Alert for US Citizens

Oh dear. Maybe it's just me, but a travel alert that broad (anywhere!) does not seem that helpful.

This is unsettling, to say the least. However, I don't intend to let the possibility of something happening stop me from enjoying life and traveling. I feel like I am in just as much danger getting in my car and going to the grocery store and possibly being involved in an accident, but I hop around in my car off and on all day.

Everyone has to make their own decisions when these alerts go out. I just wanted to put it out there.

Not sure how travel insurance works in the U.S., but you might want to check if there are any implications. I know here in Australia when we have a government travel alert for a specific country there can be travel insurance impacts.

"U.S. citizens should exercise vigilance when in public places or using transportation. Be aware of immediate surroundings and avoid large crowds or crowed places. Exercise particular caution during the holiday season and at holiday festivals or events. U.S. citizens should monitor media and local information sources and factor updated information into personal travel plans and activities."

But really though, isn't this just common sense travel knowledge? Be aware of your surroundings, especially when you are in a packed area and you cannot observe things as easily?

EXACTLY! Things are no different today than yesterday. We are flying to Miami today for the Magic. I am living my life, and just practicing due diligence.

Security will be on higher alert. That is actually a good thing.

Yep, common sense.

The only DCL port on my itinerary that's of any concern is Martinique. Since it us intimately associated with France.
