New "World" Park

The other thing that I was thinking about is if there is no construction anywhere that would show for a new park. What is saying that the person was only saying that he was one of the owners of the car service. Maybe they each own their own car and that is what he was saying.

In my opinion, your question was silly. I know...I know... a little bit harsh, but come on you've been to WDW enough to know that a park is a huge undertaking and too think that so many people have kept it secret for the past 4 years (about the length of time it would take to build a park) but your limo driver has the inside scoop and is willing to share that with you.

If you post it here, it's going to get debated and analyzed, and the responses will sound rude at times. But we all are here for entertainment and we all love WDW.

Take Care and have a good day.

:D OK, here's my two cents. I heard the same rumor about a year ago or less. I heard it from a security guard at the marketplace. What he said was that while on a temporary patrol at one of the nether regions of the property, he noticed construction that involved running utility lines to the area. He said that just before they started full tilt on the animal kingdom, this same kind of construction was going on. He claimed that he asked his supervisor about it, and the supervisor said that yes, that was indeed anew park being born. If anyone took one of the backstage nursery tours a number of years ago, before there was any word at all regarding the animal kingdom being built, if you were lucky enough to have the guide that we had, you would have known that he was pointing to an area far beyond the nursery and was saying; "you see those cranes way off in the distance,? that's going to be the next park, something to do with live animals, but they will not be announcing it for a while yet." And sure enough, about a year after that they announced the animal kingdom was being built. Getting back to the security guard, he said that he was told that it was going to be a regular amusement park with a ferris wheel roller coasters and the like. He said that that was part of the original concept for the boardwalk, but there was not enough room to do it there.;) Whew, I was wondering if anyone else had heard this as well, and I'm glad someone has!:)

I am just back from WDW and heard a very similar rumor from a bus driver named Barb (who probably was having fun with us, I know :teeth: ). She said Disney will be building a villan-themed thrill park out near the Wide World of Sports, to compete with Isles of Adventure.

I have heard this rumor before, and I wish it were true!!! :) My family loves the villans!

In November a CM working the Wine Festival claimed that Disney bought more land in Lake county for a fifth park. Animal Kingdom is near the county border.

I have a couple of points for this discussion.

1. Disney tends to build things in about 10 year time frames.
Magic Kingdom 1971
EPCOT 1982
MGM 1989
AK 1998

This time frame is not exactly 10 years, but close to it.

2. If you look @ what the Orlando area has now, Disney has taken their cue to do the same.
Busch Gardens
IOA
Universal

Disney does have that special magic in the air, but they are missing out on a lot of touristers in the teen to young adult group due to the lack of Thrill Rides. Well one can argue, thats not Disney's cup of tea. Well, in the "theme park" industry you have to revamp your way of thinking over the years to make the most money. You put in a Disney Villan Park full of thrill rides, people will be coming a little further down I-4 to enjoy a utopia of theme parks.

Anyway, thats my way of thinking about another park. They could rack in some of Universals crowds and give the all out tourister a 1 stop shop to theme parks!!:)

While reading my Affordable Disney Newsletter from John Gross tonight, I came across a submission from one of the subscribers regarding a new park. Here is what was written:

The Cook Family writes:

"just returned from a 10 day trip to disneyworld. It was great
especially with the money saving tips you gave us...

Also learned from a backstage magic tour that Disney is in the
final stages of planning a roller coaster to be placed in Asia in
the Animal Kingdom. Similar in style to universals dueling
dragons, which was originally designed for asia, but disney
scrapped it at the time. Also rumor has it that a "American
Adventure" park is on the drawing board for Disney's fifth theme
park in Orlando. will keep you posted with the details."

John Gross:
I heard about that coaster. Interesting idea - American Adventure
Park!

I'm not sure if they meant that they heard that while on the backstage magic tour or not, but it does sound similar to the reports others and I have heard. I guess we can only hope it's true and that a new park is on the way, especially since it would pretty much eliminate the need to go to IOA for many people.

Also, just to clarify about our Tiffany Driver, no, he was not just saying he owned his car. He told us each driver is assigned to a specific car, but that Tiffany actually owns them all. He knew exactly how long the company had been around, to the date, since he had been an owner since the beginning. Keith also knew exactly how many of each car they had, and knew way too much to simply be a driver, especially a crazy driver who pathologically lies. My fiancé's father owns a limo company in New Orleans so we talked a lot about the company and how it runs and were comparing rates between LA and FL, etc. While my fiancé and future FIL would know many of the things we discussed with Keith, one of their drivers definitely would not, even the drivers that have been with their company for years.

Disney does have a problem with losing people to non-Disney parks. They can either wait until it becomes acute or they can try and head it off early. Heading it off early would mean taking canned rides & giving them special Disney themes (aka DCA). In addition if they could keep it secret then they wouldn't have to worry about customers delaying their trips to coincide with the opening of the new park.

I think Animal Kingdom took a long time because its unique and dealt with live plants and animals. A canned park...you definitely could not do it well in a year so 2004 is unlikely but late 2004....pushing 2005...maybe...especially if it is something like IOA (I don't like the theming in IOA ...it felt six flaggish...but the rides were great).

If its true I think I'll head for car 4 because it would be a stupid thing to do when you can't handle the existing physical plant the way it should be...plus...those acres of parking lot really bug me...Disney COULD build parking garages...cooler for the guests & environmentally friendly (cuz you can expand in the parking lot instead of on virgin land).

I also doubt that Disney is breaking ground today on a new park. They would have to file for all the permits and that would set of alarms.
That said, they could be finishing plans now and maybe, just maybe, wanting to put the shovel in the ground in 2004. I hope so anyway.
Hey if its true than great, if not at least we can express what we would like to see at wdw in the future.

 OK, I haven't been around these boards for a long time, but I keep reading in different threads about being in cars. Car1, Car3, etc, etc,. Can someone please what all this talk of cars is about?

The "Car Talk" is a shorthand way of categorizing how people feel the Disney Company is being managed, with Car #1 being the most optimistic & Car #4 being the most pessimistic. For a longer explanation, please check out this Thread

Justhat, was the driver's name "Kieth?"

I've been dieing to come back and ask you that ever since we had him as a driver this weekend=- let me know - tall, skinny guy, strawberry blond hair? He had a scraggly little goatee this past weekend-

Allright - we just reread your post and indeed it said Keith! What a piece of work this cat is!!! The story we got was that he was a professional motocycle racer who was left at the alter after spending $22K on a wedding and buying a 2400 SF home and a 3.5 kt emerald cut diamond engagement ring that he had to fly to NYC especially for! He did not say that he was the owner, but the motorcycle that had been stolen the same week of his wedding fiasco was worth $55K. Now to the good stuff - his father has since switched jobs and has been working for WDW since 1969 (even though WDW didn't exist then - it was Reedy Creek Devl Co.) and is the VP of Human Resources and president of the union (of course so many HR people are in the union). He father told him about the new park. At one time he got in real trouble for telling a guest something that made it back to the Indianapolis newspaper and got him in real trouble. When I asked him what it was he said all he said was it was something about AK opening - he didn't however know anything about Beastly Kingsdom or had ever heard of it. According to Keith - its okay to swim at Stormalong Bay even if you aren't staying there - and there only rehabbing the "kiddie" slide - the main slide is open (as if we wouldn't see this for ourselves?). There is also a 2 1/2 pound brownie that he can get at BW Bakery - although we couldn't find it and the baker there had never heard of it. He also told us that women get in free and drink for free most of the time at City Walk and we should go there - of couse using his services for transportation! I think he must have passed out a dozen cards to the 4 of us by the time it was over!

In all honesty he seemed like a nice enough kid trying hard to get a tip, but who did he think he was driving!

It might be worth it to request this guy for a driver just for the entertainment value...

;) Thanks for the info on "cars", really appreciate it!:)

Oh my goodness. We also had Keith drive us back to the airport in December. He told us all about being a motorcycle rider and had broken all his bones at one time or another. I think he said he raced them. But he told us he was a partner, not an owner. He also told us about his father being an engineer with Disney and all that. I wasn't half listening because I was coming down with a cold and was nervous about getting through all the security. I really didn't want them to open our luggage. We would never be able to fit everything back in! LOL But Keith talked a mile a minute the whole time. I guess I'm very gullible. I believed every word he said.

Disnee Dad Says...........................Hey we got a ride from Kieth in oh, maybe it was 1997. Of course the story was different then! He was in a horrific car wreck caused by a drunk driver and almost died. He was so afraid to drive that he got a job with towncar to over come his fears! We talked about Ken Griffey Jr., whom he drove around alot! So he was sure Griffey was going to the Yankees. I told him I thought it was Cincinnati or Atlanta. He said"We'll I just talked to Grif last week and he said "I'll be wearing pinstripes"" BTW he did go to Cincy.
Guess the drunk driver story wasn't as good as the motorcyle crash!!!

Most tourists are not as well informed as everyone on here and will believe anything the guy says. He probably gets much higher tips for his lies.

Aren't there enough real things going on where one doesn't have to resort to fabrications and lies in order to try to get a big tip?
