New wording about switching distances?

I was looking at the princess page on rundisney, and noticed this:

• Registrations may be transferred within the same race weekend to a different race distance, as long as the desired race distance is not sold out. Transfers are not allowed for 5Ks and runDisney Kids Races.The Guest must first register for the new event for the transfer to be valid; any difference in registration price for a lesser distance (if any) will be refunded and then a transfer processing fee will be applied.

I’ve heard of this method to do the chalkenge, but not just swapping distances.

Is this new or did I just miss it?

I think you've been able to change distances in the past. It comes up from time to time around Marathon Weekend as folks look to move from the full to the half or vice versa.

I think it's always been like this. Maybe it's some new wording though.

I just researched this the other day, so it's fresh.

The language in the Marathon Weekend policies section does not include the bit about the 5k and kids races. It does appear for the other race weekends though.
