New WL Conceirge lobby construction has begun!!!

Just called the WL. The construction on the new 7th floor conceirge lobby began yesterday!! Should be finished by July!!! WOOO HOOOOO I cant wait until August!!

Well, this is interesting news!

Were you given any indication of when it might be done? You mentioned July; was that early July or late July? (That is of course if everything runs smoothly... : )

We are staying WL concierge in early July and am hoping that the construction will not turn into an unpleasant experience for us. Eager to hear what others are experiencing on their trips.

Oh, keeps us posted! This is so exciting. I wonder if this will make the room rate jump next year because now they will have a "true lounge". I love WL. I always feel warm and welcomed from the time I get there until the time I leave.

The CM on the phone said 3 months. The CM said' "by late June, early July everything should be finished."

does anyone know if they are getting rid of any of the honeymoon suites to put in the lounge?? just wondering about the lay out.

We just leave WL concierge Saturday night and nothing had started then, but I know what they are planning on doing..... expanding the area directly in front of the the concierge desk, along the side railing, going toward the f ront of the hotel. Kids area planned, too. Fod will be in the main room and not in the "hall". Big screen TV planned as well. They were GREAT to us. Perfect rooom with MK view and fireworks: 7054! AWESOME!

Three months sound like a fairly accurate estimation. They aren't buidling something from scratch, they are knocking down the walls to a suite or two and making it an open lounge area with 'backstage' areas to handle the preparation and/or storge of hospitality resfreshments and serveware. Not a big job by construction standards. This makes me wanna upgrade!!

7096 is the honeymoon suite just infront of the desk, this is where we stayed when we went. We had planned on going back to hopefully the same room next year for an anniversary.... oh well. I know DH will enjoy the extra space and TV. But I don't think I want to be in the other suite on that side, it would be a little loud with a new kids area and lounge right outside the door. A nice thing about the honeymoon suites was that it was away from a lot of the noise. but don't get me wrong.... I LOVE the lounge area and its offerings too, it will be nice to see a real lounge.

The CM said that it still won't have doors to make it an actual stand alone room but that it will be nice. I almost like the sounds of not having a blocked off room because you can sit and listen to the sounds of the beautiful lobby.

ok i am staying at WL May25-28. How much noise is this construction making?? I was making this a nice leisurely sleepy vacation. Will I be yelling out to the workers that people are sleeping in here. It is a Hotel.

I am not staying Concierge. Might make me want to wake up and get going to early and stay up to late.

I also dont want to be the b*** at the front desk saying I want to move its to noisy for me. I was so looking forward to staying at nice quiet WL. Even asked for a wooded room over a courtyard as I was told less noise.

It shouldn't bother you. The construction is up on the 7th floor. The only rooms I could see being bothered by noise are the rooms on the 6th floor directly under the construction.

The 7th floor is one of the quietest places at WL.

I have stayed in rooms on the 2nd floor and found them to be quite loud.

I agree! One of the things we're looking forward to at the WL is being up so high on the 7th floor and being able to sit and relax with breakfast and look down over the lobby

We have stayed concierge at WL the last two years. The view from the 7th floor down to the lobby is amazing. Breakfast was one of my favorite times there. Relaxing and looking down to the lobby as everything is just starting to get going for the day. You are going to have a wonderful time there. It looks like we are going to be leaving just as you are arriving. I hope you have a great trip.
