Latest info re WL:

The "Smoking Optional" rooms, formerly located on the 5th floor - South Wing have been moved to 6th floor - North Wing. There are only 30 rooms available. Please note this when making special requests with your ressies......

Happy Weekend, All!

Kimmar067,

Do you know if the suites smoking optional? I assume they are because most of the suites at the WDW resorts we have looked at are.

We are staying in one in October. I'm not worried too much about it but I would just like to know.

Is the rest of the 7th floor non-smoking or smoking optional?

Thanks in advance for any info you have.

I love the Spongebob in your post.

...I will get you that info a.s.a.p.
BTW ~ I kinda am a SpongeBob fan, so I'll keep him around awile...

I just found out that Florida state law requires kids under 16 to wear helmets when riding bikes. Do they provide helmets at the bike rental, or do we have to bring our own? TIA!

...here is some more info to help you make a better decision:
Smoking Optional rooms are either "woods" or "courtyard" view. Available are 2 queens, queen w/bunks, or handicap-assessible kings. Jr. suites are NON-smoking. Hope this helps....:D

We're going on a Land/Sea trip to WDW and staying at WL in August... I can hardly wait! We stayed at WL several years ago and had a wonderful courtyard/lobby room. Would anyone have any idea what kind of view they would give you with the land/sea deal? We're staying in a catagory 6 stateroom. Counting the days!!!!......

Thanks!
Nancy

....sure that you would be put into a standard room, but sometimes the WL offers a complimentary upgrade (you could always ask;) !)

kimmar067 got a question,

now that the smoking option is in the northwing 6th floor, i was wondering are the views nice from about the 4th or 5th floor southwing courtyard? also, do you think that the 5th floor southwing, will have any residual smoking odor (sorry, i hope i do not offend anyone but i am deathly allergic) to the room. we are arriving at the WL on may 15 (yeah) for vacation. i was just wondering what i should request. i was going to request northwing upper floors but now i am thinking of requesting southwing. any help would be appreciated. i am new to this so i hope this was a legitimate question.

I'm so excited. I just paid off my reservation at the WL for the end of the month. I paid for 8 nights with a woods view room. Time is getting so close :) :) :)

Now am I correct in thinking that you fax a room request 4 days before your arrival? I just can't seem to remember.

We are arriving at WL on May 10 and did not know about requesting a room choice 4 days prior.. any info or suggestions on that would be appreciated.. thanks

Did you get a std, woods, or court view?
1)std - request 4th floor or higher/ North Wing (you may get lucky a get a view of the castle!!
2)woods - request 3rd or 4th floor/North Wing/otter pond area (peaceful. lovely, and possible daily views of some"noisy, furry" neighbors!)
3) court - almost ANY location is prime(if highly allergic to smoke, I don't recommend 6th floor or South Wing)

personally, I would NOT chance it...depending on how allergic you are to smoke (the changes in smoking rooms are fairly recent) I would opt for a 6th floor South Wing room, if you are really set on the south wing...

Best wishes for a wonderful, memorable, and SAFE vaca! Definitely fax in your requests, but remember, they are ONLY requests; they will accomadate you as best they can (I have found WL to be probably one of the MOST accomodating resorts of WDW!)

HAPPY WEEKEND, ALL!!!

kimmar067-thanks for that. I remember that they are only request. When at the CB last year, they met all my request. I don't have much for the WL, I just really want to be in the atmosphere of that beautiful place!!!

....you will NOT be disappointed at WL....be sure to post all about it when you return (it MAY be on a new thread, though)!!

All the information in this thread is wonderful, but there is just too much too it! I set a few hours aside to read all the posts and quit after only getting to Sept. 2002. Long way still to go. To save myself time, I figured I'll leave my lurker status and make my first post.

This will be our first stay at WL and it will be our honeymoon. We have a courtyard view booked from May 17-29. I plan on sending a fax request May 13, but I'm not sure what to request.

Are there any rooms that have King size beds without the handicap showers? If it means having two queens to get a bath tub, that's fine with us.

What area or view should we request? We are both non-smokers.

Anything else that I should request? We will be flying in late and checking in around 9pm. Should I note that too? Do we need to request a hair dryer, or are they standard in the rooms?

thanks in advance for all your responses
Ed

well, congratulations, Ed_in_IL on your upcoming wedding and honeymoon.

my husband and i spent our honeymoon at the wilderness lodge villas back in february 2002. our room had a jaccuzi tub and a separate shower. it was great, can't say enough about it. you will love the wilderness lodge.

anyway, i know they have king bed rooms but i am not sure if there are any without handicapped showers only. i also know that they have rooms in the lodge itself that have jaccuzi tubs. you might want to inquire about them. when you fax your request let them know you need non-smoking, and any specific floor (re: away from the elevators or close to the lobby), etc. i hope this helps. also, let them know it is your honeymoom.

my husband and i will be visiting the wilderness lodge may 15 through may 20. can't wait.

i hope i helped a little. there are people on this discussion forum that are far more knowledgeable than me, i know they will help out.

one more thing, make sure you get the mickey and minnie ears with the top hat and bridal veil. we got ours at the grand floridian but i know i have seen them at downtown disney, magic kingdom. we got so much attention and people were so nice to us when we were wearing them. woody and buzz lightyear even tried to steal me away from my husband while we were getting autographs and pictures. so much fun. also you might want to get an autograph book from disney and where ever you go and who ever you meet get their autograph, we got to many memories in that book from waitresses and waiters to the mayor of main street in the magic kingdom to the characters.

good luck. :D

I'm sitting here just confused out of my mind. We have WL booked for Oct. 18 - 25th at rack with Dreams Unlimited waiting on AP rates. Haven't purchased AP's yet and NOW they've come out with the Fairytale deal. What's a person to do?

Okay, I know we have some people in the know on this site, even one that works at the WL (at least I think they're still here) so.........does anyone think that they will come out with AP rates or do we need to book the Fairytale?

Help........peeeezzzzeee.........

I've posted this in several places and need some help.

We are staying at the WL and need to get to the International Gateway at Epcot for our 9am Family Portrait Session. What's the best way to get there? We will have a car. Do I drive to another disney resort and park? Will they let me do that? Suggestions? Usually we don't mind walking, but since I'm paying a small fortune for portraits I'd prefer we don't have a long trek. Thanks!

..parking at BW and walking over to Internat'l Gtwy...

markshaw ~
Why not call and get a price on the Fairytale Pkg? They do a 14-day courtesy hold, so you aren't obligated to pay anything until the 14th day ($100 deposit at that time, I believe)...:D
