All this info on the rooms is great. 999ghsts is so helpful. I hope this thread is still here next year...or maybe I better start writing all this info down and storing it for my family trip.

999ghsts - I hope this is not a repeat question but - the standard rooms on the 4th floor over the desk area, do any of them have bunk beds? I think a nonsmoking standard will do just fine for us. I just really do not want to be near the service area. Some have said the bright lights all night have bothered them even with the drapes closed. Would that just be on some of the lower floors? Thanks.

...to post to give 999ghsts a BIG hand (clap-clap-clap-clap-clap) cuz' she really has helped this board tremendously with all of the wonderful "insider" tips she has so generously supplied us!!!:D

Countdown to WDW:

2 months - 5 days - 12 hours - Yippee!!

I am giving 999ghts a big hand also. She has been very helpful to my many confussing questions. She has always taken the time to answer the posts. I will be there in 28 days. I am getting very excited everyday. thanks again 999ghts, I will not be bothering you any more, you have helped answer all of my questions..... Kimmar, thanks for starting this great thread......Corvair

In only 4 more days we'll be at the WL!!!! It can't come soon enough. In an effort to limit our packing DW plans on doing laundry midway through the week. Are there laundry facilities at WL, and if so where? Thanx for your help! Also, are there sand toys at the beach that you can buy/rent.

Has anyone here eaten at Artist' Point at the WL?

DH and I will be visiting in September and I was wondering if I should make PS ressies?

The question is this: what is the food like really?

I love to try new things and experiment a little when it comes to eating out, but DH insists that if it's not good old "American" food, he doesn't want it. He won't eat anything if he can't tell what the ingredients are when he looks at it!! LOL Can we get something to please us both? I'd really like to try because I've heard AP is really great, but I don't want either of us to be disappointed.

What do you think?

I can't answer about the food but here are some pictures of it and the menu Artist point food pictures and menu

Plutospup,

We just got back from the WL and we had to do a couple loads of laundry. The are a few laundry rooms. The one I used was one the first floor across from the elevators near the Roaring Forks. It was completely empty and very convenient. They sold individual laundry detergent from a vending machine in the laundry room. But if you want to do a few loads, then you may want to buy the double pack of detergent from the Merchantile store.

for that great information! I can't wait to show DH that they don't have just a bunch of "rabbit-food" as he calls it! :p

Is it just me or did that dessert menu look really fantastic . . .

I agree wholeheartedly!! :bounce: Although I haven't asked questions, I have learned a lot. We requested bunk beds, non-smoking, woodsview. We went through Dreams Unlimited, so we can't fax in requests, just tell out TA. However, I have learned alot from this thread and 999ghsts. I am relieved and thrilled that we chose WL for our stay this July. Only hear great things about it!

How long will you be staying at WL? We will be going to WDW 7/26 but we are staying at CBR first (till 7/31). Maybe we will run into each other at the pool....!!!:D

corvair-
Be sure to post your review of WL when you get back, along with all the great PS's you made.....(I still think you shouldn't waste your time at PH when there are SO many great places to eat, but that is only M.H.O. - have fun!!)

Kimmar - we are going July 23 and returning home on the 29th. Guess we will just miss you :)

new here and glad I found this!

We are going to WDW and are staying at the
WL in July! My husband turns the big 4-0 in June
and when I asked him what he wanted for his
birthday, he "jokingly" mentioned that he'd like
to stay on Disney property for the 1st time! Well,
he's getting his wish! WE are very excited. Being
"first timers" staying onsite, there is a lot to
learn about all the "perks"!

I've read every post on this FAQ thread and it
has been a tremendous help. I, too, applaud
999ghsts for her patience and input! You've
done a fabulous job answering everyone's
questions.

I have a couple of questions for you now, if you
don't mind. Are there king sized
bed woodsview rooms available on the upper
floors? I'm intrigued by the post where 999ghsts
suggested the North wing overlooking the otters
(my favorite!). I would definitely love to book a
room in this location, if there are king bed rooms
available in that location. IF not, I'd would look
into changing to requesting 2 queens.

Lastly, and I'm sorry this got long winded, if I
mention on my faxed request that it is my
husband's 40th birthday, will the resort
recognize this? Or do I have to be specific in my
request? I just know my husband would love to
find a balloon and/or a card from Mickey in our
room!

Thanks in advance!

:)

Who knows? Maybe Mickey will deliver it in person!!?!?!?!

Pluto14, we stayed at WL over my birthday a few years back. My DW told our roomkeeper who in turn left a card signed by Mickey and the gang (complete with the L logo and the characters pic inside). She also left a Sebastian beanie with a handwritten note telling me happy b-day. It was a nice surprise!!! :) I bet you could notify the hotel and they'd do something like that. Be sure to tell all the cast members wherever you go. At restraunts you can get desserts, drinks or other treats as a surprise. 50's Prime Time in MGM was especially memorable!!! :)

:) Kimmar067- I like your thinking! That would make my DH's day.

yensid1071- :) Sounds like your birthday was very memorable. What you described would be my DH's speed. He'd love a card from Mickey and the gang with a picture.....I'm sure he'd buy a special Disney frame and hang it up as soon as we return home! This was all done by your roomkeeper, too! I wonder if I'd get the same outcome if I mention it to our room assignor? Do you think I'll have to specify?

Thanks for your help! BTW, how do you get to list all the dates of your previous trips? Is there a section I missed when registering? Do you add it to your signature?

Yes, you can add it to your siggie. Go to Technical Board and set up a thread asking for help with your siggie. The moderators are really great over there, and they will be able to help you out....:)

Kimmar,,, No I have never stayed at WL or visited.. I have only seen pictures. I kind of wanted to stay at AKL, but my DH has friends that go here and heard great things about WL. I am glad now that we are going to WL. The reveiws and pictures are great. So glad you started this thread. Have you ever stayed at WL? Have a nice day...corvair+

...although we have eaten at Whispering Canyon (and LOVED it!) we have never stayed here. It really is a wonderful, peaceful place and the atmosphere is so relaxing!! My sister has stayed here two times, and she won't stay anywhere else! (she has also stayed at BC/YC, POFQ, and ASMu and she loves this place the BEST! - right, Jude ;) ? -

Pluto14-
I want to recall a story my neighbor told me when her family visited WL. During their stay, her DD was sick in bed. DH took her other DD to BB to go swimming for the day while she stayed in the room with her sick daughter. She decided to go to the Merchantile store to purchase some Pepto, cough med, etc. and the CM noticed her purchases. She told the CM how her DD was sick in bed and she was buying these for her. She thought nothing of it, when about an hour later, a CM showed up at their door with a bouquet of balloons, a magazine, and some WDW writing paper and pen/pencil set, along with a get well card signed by Mickey!!! Now THAT's what I call doin' it "Disney style"!!

:bounce: :bounce: I am still confsued over the rooms situations

I have never stayed on property before so we want this to be the best
from reading some of the post 999ghts told someone to request the following upper floor wood view lobby room open balcony non smoking over whisp canyon this sounds what I want but
if you get a lobby room do you still get a balcony with a view on the mk

we are getting a woods view and want a great location as mylittle mouseketeer is bouncing of the wall in anticipation of going

also what is the best floor for what I want

thank you
carol

:) kimmar- how sweet of them to do that for her DD! It is no fun to be sick at Disney and miss all the action. I hope this helped to make her feel better!

beb- I'm still slightly confused over where the "best" location is, too. I read all these posts and everytime there is a different location mentioned, I think, "Hmm....that might be nice".....My DH doesn't understand why I'm searching for the right location. As far as he's concerned, he'd look at a brick wall as long as he's at WDW! It is just that this is a special gift for him, and I want this big birthday that he's dreading to be a fond one, not one that he'll gripe about! So, I want to make this as special as I can for him. When is your trip?

Hi pluto I am glad I am not the only one confused
my hubby too cant understand why I am looking for the perfect location.

I guess we will keep searching our trip is july how about yours:Pinkbounc
