New----what we noticed over Labor Day Weekend

Yes, when you get to your resort, at night call for a wake up call. when that time comes in the morning, the phone will ring. It was originally Mickey. But now apparently it is both Stitch and Mickey. Either way, it's a great day to start your day! (Just a tip: remember to set an extra alarm clock, as one day on our last trip, we called to get it set, and it never rang!)

Cool, thanks!! :cool1:

what are they kidding?...stitch kingdom, i don't think so... stitch ...hurumph....still ticked about ae and think he's not the least bit cute bah humbug and :p :to stitch ( hope he's long gone before i get there)

Well with the recent release of Lilo and Stitch 2, it will last a little while longer.

Personally, I hope it ends soon. I will be there the end of October and I do not like Stitch at all. I didn't care for the movie and I don't really care for the character. I'd rather have Crush and Squirt wake me up!

You mean, people go to MK and do VMK there? What's wrong with that picture?

I also do not understand the "Stictch" obsession. I want my wake-up call to come from the man himself- "Mickey"

I don't get all the Stitch stuff either. I think he's annoying. Is he really that popular? What does the monorail say "Welcome to Stitch Kingdom?" I don't get it.

I just started pin collecting and there are SO many pins with Stitch on them, all kinds of other stuff too, t-shirts, mugs, everything....It's gotten to the point that when I do searches for anything Disney on ebay, I now put minus Stitch.

Crowds this year over labor day were small at night. I wasn't around during the day but a CM that I spoke to said that the mornings were quiet and during the day the crowds were heavier.

I did MK on Monday and Tuesday, arriving between 4 and 6pm and almost all rides were walk on and rode Splash and BTMRR several times in a row without getting off. The longest wait was about 10 minutes on Space.

Thursday night I did Epcot again arriving around 6pm and waited about 10 minutes for Soarin and walked on MS and TT. There were many good spots for Illuminations with small crowds.

Last night I did MGM and walked on TOT, RNR, GMR, Back Lot Tour and got decent (but not great) seats for Fantasmic 5 minutes before the start.

Yes, we too had Stitch and Mickey wake us up. But it was in April. Very cool. Loved it!

3. The yummy, huge waffle cones at the Outpost at Epcot are gone. My husband lives for the Snickers icecream. He went to get his cone, and those machines were gone and replaced by just Vanilla and Chocolate soft serve. They were in small cones and the price wasn't that much different from the huge cones they use to have.

Really? That stinks! I saw that the "ice cream" side was shuttered so I just thought it was closed for the afternoon. Man, they were SO good!

As for Stitch, eh. I try to ignore everything involving him. I never saw the appeal-I feel like the odd one out most times because we (my 5.5 y/o DD included) never liked him or the movie and everyone around us seems to have gone Stitch crazy.

Cheapmom...that is how the castle was ON my 40th birthday!!! I thought it was a hoot (and DH said it was appropriate :rotfl2: ), but I can see why some people were upset by it.

Stitch is OK, my DDs love him and even now come in and say, "NO SLEEPING!" DH isn't thrilled by him, but I don't mind that much. I was surprised to see all the Stitch stuff on the monorail and everywhere in May as I thought it was supposed to only be for the ride. I think it's time to get over it and move on!

Was this done for a promotion of the new stitch ride? When did that happen anyway?? We Love Stitch!!

Stitch makes me crazy. I liek the classics. If there's one thing I hate that WDW does sometimes, it's how they tie in the "cartoon of the month" into everything there!!!!!!

I want the original FAB FIVE!!!!!!!!

Personally I love Stitch, Stitch and Mickey are my 2 faves so the wake up call is perfect for me, I get to hear both my guys :)

Wow, I'm kind of surprised that they still have the Stitch wake-up! I was there in December of last year and they had it then, so it's been going for almost a year! I like Stitch, but I personally prefer the Mickey wake-up.

Stitch is the 3rd most popular animated Disney character :confused3

1. Mickey
2. Pooh
3. Stitch

That is crazy.

Here's the deal with VMK and MK. VMK is a HUGE marketing tool for MK. Some of the prizes you win on VMK can only be redeemed at VMK Central at the real parks. There are 4 MK VMK quests to do in the park. Completing each quest gets your character items that will make you the envy of everyone in the kingdom. Daily your character can get credits on VMK. You need a computer to get those credits. Hence the computers at VMK central are horded by VMK players. Sure there are some new players, but mostly everyone we met already had their character.

There is also a free, yes free, VMK tour. After you complete your quests and turn in your anwsers, you get a VIP card with code to take to Guest services to sign up for this tour. The tour is incredible! While on the tour you have the opportunity to win more free stuff for your character.

They also have taken VMK to the merchandising level. If you buy a real hat from the hat Chapeau then you get a virtual hat for your character and a nice collector's card. Buy candy at the candy shop in frontierland and you get a virtual penny presser for your character. Buy a picture at Splash mt and you get a virtual wanted poster. Buy a t-shirt at sir mickey's and you get a virtual t-shirt. Buy a pin at the pin store at Frontierland and get a virtual 50th poster for your room.

My son insisted he had to enter his codes at VMK central before we left MK for the day. So he had to hog a computer to enter all his he got that day at MK.

Basically if you have children age 9-14 and you don't want to spend a whole day doing VMK quests and stuff, quickly bypass the VMK central. Run...run...don't let them look to the left. They'll see those computers and your day will be monopolized by VMK.

I can easily see that. My DD10 loves him. One of the stuffed ones came home with us in August and has been constantly around since then. She loved the ride and his voice on the monorail. So as long as one of my kids (and others kids) like him I say keep him around. Myself, I love pooh and mickey but there is plenty of room for all. :grouphug:

Thanks for the vmk link. I joined, but I just stood in a room b/c I didn't understand how to play! I must be getting old...

We had a wake up call from Stitch and I just loved it! He yelled at us for sleeping!

This is funny, because I joined a while ago and got about as far as you did. Then I let two of my kids (6 and 12) join, and they are forever doing things there! I guess it is old age.
