New----what we noticed over Labor Day Weekend

We stayed at POR over the Labor Day Weekend. We noticed some new things.

1. Our wake up call in the morning was done by Stitch and Mickey.

2. When we took the monorail, we were wellcomed to Stitch Kingdom.

3. The yummy, huge waffle cones at the Outpost at Epcot are gone. My husband lives for the Snickers icecream. He went to get his cone, and those machines were gone and replaced by just Vanilla and Chocolate soft serve. They were in small cones and the price wasn't that much different from the huge cones they use to have.

4. The popularity of VMK is growing. It is now hard to find an open computer at VMK Central. (I think they need to put a time limit on the computers or enlarge VMK Central to hold more computers.)

I also do not understand the "Stictch" obsession. I want my wake-up call to come from the man himself- "Mickey"

What is with all the Stich? What is VMK?

Stitch sells well. However, it seems like Stitch overkill.

VMK is Virtual Magic Kingdom. It's a computer game that simulates going to the Magic Kingdom. You create a character and your character can interact with other players/guests. It's designed for kids, but there is a huge adult following as well. There are quite a lot of DISers on VMK and a board here at DIS for VMK as well. You can check it out at www.vmk.com

Sounds like Stitch overkill to me for sure. I've never done the ride or it's AE predecessor, so I'll go into it with a fairly open mind (I don't like Stitch that much, but I'll give him a shot), but there is nothing "magic" about the "Stitch" kingdom. And if that annoying silly blue thing wakes me up screaming in my ear every morning, I won't be held responsible for my actions

Thanks for the vmk link. I joined, but I just stood in a room b/c I didn't understand how to play! I must be getting old...

We had a wake up call from Stitch and I just loved it! He yelled at us for sleeping!

What the heck is Stitch!?!???
Seriously, I know it's from Lilo & Stitch, but Disney movies became horrible after Hercules (Except for NEMO of course) I am all about the Disney old GOOD movie characters. MICKEY, Minnie, Donald, Goof, PLuto!

And I miss Alien Encounter!!! Boooo to stitch!

I think (but am not positive) all that Stitch stuff began when they unveiled the Stitch ride (which is pretty dumb) last year. I think the day the ride opened visitors to MK were shocked to enter the park and see that Cinderella's Castle had been T.P.'d or "rolled" as some call it by the mischeif maker himself. I hope this Stitch stuff is just a year long celebration of the new ride and then it will go away.

I'm sure your right that it's just a celebration of the new attraction. It will probably start phasing out soon. It sells well, as some one else has said, but as soon as the next good movie comes out, stitch will be old news. Personally I like stitch, as I have some stuffed animals and the movie practically memorized. however, it doesn't quite seem the same to be woken up by stitch, and not Mickey!

I don't like when Stitch wakes me up in the morning. I even wrote to Disney to complain, but I never got a response, which I would have appreciated. Getting yelled at in the morning is not my idea of a pleasant way to wake up. I much prefer Mickey's happy voice telling me to "Up and at 'em, Pal. Ooh, boy are we glad you're here!" He made me smile and want to get up-bring back my Pal, Mickey!

I'v been waiting 7 months to go to WDW and to tell you the truth I want the real thing not a VMK !

VMK might be fun while at home but right now I looking foward to be on Main Street tomorrow in MK not on the computer

I loved being woken up by Stitch. My wake up call went like this :

Short bit of Disney music, followed by Stitch yelling at me for sleeping, followed by Mickey apologizing for Stitchs Behavior. Really cracked me up in the AM.

Yes, when you get to your resort, at night call for a wake up call. when that time comes in the morning, the phone will ring. It was originally Mickey. But now apparently it is both Stitch and Mickey. Either way, it's a great day to start your day! (Just a tip: remember to set an extra alarm clock, as one day on our last trip, we called to get it set, and it never rang!)
