New Welcome Show... I LOVED IT!

The new welcome show is "one and done" for me. I have no interest to see it again. I'll be happy to wait by the ropes and get a head start on the attractions from now on. The new show just doesn't compare to the train station show. I also think Disney could have just changed the welcome show to the other side of the train station. Yes, we wouldn't have the best view of the train coming in, but we would still be able to hear the whistle and the "Welcome Song" that we all grew to love. Whenever I'm on hold with Disney, they always play that song, and it makes me miss it even more.

Being on Main Street an hour before the park opened and having no line for Starbucks is an added bonus though.

Not impressed by the new show. I will always love and miss the show with the steam train rolling in... sigh.

I don't understand why they couldn't have opened the gates and kept the old welcome show with the train. There was something special about that show, seeing the train come in. It was quaint

you can still do that. The vehicles are out at the same time as usual

I'm thinking if we wait for the trolley it start running at the beginning of Main Street we'll be behind the 8 ball as far as walking on rides off the hub. Under the old opening we'd ride the trolley to the castle and then ride Space Mtn, Buzz and the People Mover as walk-ons.

I am looking forward to seeing the new show in front of the castle...but the old show will always be special to me. I'm a little bias though, one year we were lucky enough to be chosen as the First Family! It was SO magical!!!

But wouldn't it be the same as before?
They did the welcome show, everyone went on rides and you did the trolley? Or did you not do the trolley first ?

Texas Pete -- in answer to your question...the word was security, MK is a target sadly for today's world, and someone could up to the hub before they got screened and do something horrible. Back 15 years ago, it was one of the best kept secrets, the morning show, to arrive 15 minutes before opening with just around a couple of thousand people. Now with the internet, social media, youtube, the best kept secret was out and that area was 10,000; 15,000. I agree with most of the people.....IT'S JUST NOT THE SAME!!! Loved the mayor, the good morning song, a family being picked, and the stream train of characters and the countdown with the frills. Glad the OP likes it a lot.

If the trolley is running from the time the gates open, well before the new show farther up the street we're OK. If it doesn't start until the show ends, the crowd at the castle will have a huge head start to the rides we usually walk on if we wait for the trolley.

What does everyone think of the new welcome show at MK? We were there a couple weeks ago and I just keep thinking about how much I loved it! Of course, I loved the one before, but being in front of the castle was just magical!
I've never seen either show (the old train version or the new one), but having watched the old version on Youtube many times, I was really, REALLY hoping to catch it when we're there in December. Then they changed it to the new version, and I watched that one on Youtube and...no thanks.
There's just something about when the train is coming and they start singing "Casey, Jr. coming down the track..." and then move into "Zip-Ah-Dee-Doo-Dah"...even on Youtube it gave me "the feels" LOL.

The new one is just another generic castle show to me. And maybe I'm weird, but I think the build up of the excitement outside of the park to actually get in, and THEN seeing Main St. (which I love) and THEN seeing the Castle is sort of cool. Because even without seeing the Welcome show, whenever I've walked into the MK for the first time, I'm momentarily gobsmacked by the awesomeness of Main St. and then when the Castle comes into view it's such a great moment! So by the time I've experienced those things, I don't need a Welcome show anymore.

I get it! That all makes sense! Just reading zipadeedoodah makes me get the feels ;)
