I remember rumors a few yrs ago of a new housing development on Disney property (along with more shopping areas) :confused3 But haven't seen any updates...This was to be several types of homes/condos (like Celebration) maybe even including 55+ areas?? Anyone know what is happening??? Getting closer to planning our escape from Joisey!!! :woohoo:

There are partial homes (ie: timeshare type things) and full time living homes planned in the Four Seasons Golf & Resort area currently under construction.

I hope you have a nice source of big time cash.. these homes will be nutso priced.

I think you are referring to Flamingo Crossings and here is why you haven't heard too much.

yes, I think that is the area but I thought there were to be some residential communities as well...Guess everything is in a holding pattern..... Thanks!! :flower3:

I'd love to own one though. Rent it out for a while and then retire in Orlando!

I cintinued my search & located a bit of updated info online...seems you are very correct about cash being needed, CanadianGuy!! The (only) 30-50 homes to be built are proposed to be offered in the 7 figure range :sad2:

And I saw something that the new Four Seasons would somehow be available thru DVC or with DVC pts???:confused3

I haven't heard anything like that. In general, you can't trade in/out of DVC with other local resorts.

Perhaps the confusion is that Eagle Pines was originally slated for a DVC resort, until they decided to rebuilt the Disney Institute instead?

we have to wait & see...your idea re: Eagle Pines & DVC sounds right, though, doconeill....:flower3:

Someone else with Aug 1999 as their start date!

Do you think you joined the Dis before Aug? I'm trying to find out if our join dates were reset to Aug or if they just added the Join date in Aug and everyone that was register was given Aug.

I know I was on the Dis before Aug. but it was a long time ago now and I can't remember why it says Aug.

Hi squirrel! Yes, I joined the second yr Pete began the DIS. That was long ago, once upon a time. Then came the great shift/purge/meltdown that resulted in joining dates being reset (or caused many of us to need to 're-join'. Can't remember what exactly occurred but it was sad for me as all prior record of my existence was wiped out! :sad1:

ps...can ya speak to your friends about staying out of my birdfeeder???

seems Flamingo Crossing is different from the Four Seasons residential area...unless you have more info??:confused3

Unless something has changed recently, Flamingo Crossings is meant to be an area aimed at the "budget-minded" (Disney's word, not mine), with retail and hotel/motel space. Disney would be leasing the space to other companies. I don't remember anything being said about residences in that area.

The Four Seasons deal was a combo of leased and sold land that Four Seasons would develop. There will be a resort, fractional ownership homes, and a new golf course (that's why Disney's Eagle Pines course was closed). From the sounds of it, Four Seasons would run everything and there was no indication of what kind of access, if any, other Disney guests would have to the property and its amenities.

Not a big fan of either as I'd prefer Disney actually develop its land as opposed to selling and leasing it to others, but that's an old and pointless argument.

I haven't been on here since 1999 but since 2004 and one day my hundreds and hundreds of posts poofed down to 16... do they do that? Wipe out old threads?

I wasn't on the DIS then but this happened to EVERYONE back in 1999 or there abouts.. technical issue..

It's become a bit of a urban legend around here.. I'm sure Webmaster Alex could tell us why -- but I do know it happened to lots of folks.
