New Way To Make ADRs Coming

Why is the assumption that Disney is trying to take more control of ADRs and double booking with this move to allow online booking? Perhaps controling double booking isn't really the reason; perhaps they are just trying to make things more convenient for their customers and reduce their staffing needs. I don't really see that double booking will be any easier or harder with online booking. Maybe it really has nothing to do with why Disney is developing this new option?

i think this would be an excellent option, and one desperately needed...i think much better when doing something online as opposed to talking to someone and trying to make adjustments. i for one hope that it is in place in time for me to make my adrs next year! :)

All they have to do is require a credit card to hold all reservations and that will eliminate people trying to bog down the system or making fake reservations because they would then be subjected to a fee.

That would be a pretty drastic change from what they do now (with the exception of the "events" like CRT)....and, again, would "discount" a portion of those wanting to make an ADR because they either don't want to use a CC to secure all their ressies or don't HAVE a CC to use (and yes, there are many who don't).

Maybe do both. EITHER a CC OR a Confirmation number. That would open up the site to locals and offsite guests, too, and prevent griefing.

It'll be interesting to see what, if any, steps they take and what the ramifications are.

To be honest, it's not 100% the idea of booking online that worries me, it's the idea of doing it on WDW's website. That has to be one of the most unstable, slow, and annoying websites I have ever visited. If the same people do the coding...

*shivers in horror*

Exactly what I was thinking. I love the idea of being able to book online because I hate talking on the phone, but oh, that website. :sad2: And I wonder if you're going to have to call in order to make changes the way you have to do with the resort reservations? It's a good idea in theory but I wonder how it will work in practice.

I'm a programmer and I tell you, I'd love to be on that project. I think I could design a kick-*** online ADR system. :woohoo:
