Hi everyone
I picked up the new Virgin Brochure which launched today and I'm not sure if I have got this right but the dining plan seems to have changed
For example in the preview brochure the regular dining plan included, one QS, one TS and one snack
Now it seems to be one QS, one TS and two snacks
Seems an improvement on the surface but when you read the small print you don't get dessert anymore with the QS or TS (a TS meal is main course and non
alcoholic drink) and they seem to be really specific as to what constitutes a snack (it's a very small list) am I reading this right?

It's just that in the past a TS or QS meal included a dessert.
If you read the small print in the new brochure it says that TS includes main course and drink only so it looks like they have done away with the dessert and you would have to pay OOP for that
But they do seem to be giving you one snack instead of one

I'll be honest if the desert isn't included I don't think I'd be that interested anymore as my daughters always want something after their meal so to have to start paying on top?? Also as the kids menu is pretty bland at some of the TS places so they always used to have my desert. If that options gone I don't think it will be worth it anymore? :confused3

hi ive just booked my holiday and asked about this for you. obviously it is Disneys dining plan, so will be whatever Disney are advertising. she is going to double check it for me. she did think it was an error. will let you know what she says

I noticed this too when I downloaded the Virgin 2011 brochure and read the Dining Plan page. Hopefully it will be a mistake but I have an awful feeling it won't be. :sad1:

I'm just curious to know if this is a Virgin typo or if Disney are going to change the plan in 2011. It would certainly save them some money if they replace a dessert with a snack. Thanks for checking Darthtatty!!

Id be surprised if the plan changed. theres been loads of dining plans sold already for the start of next year that are the dining plan as we know. i think itd be confusing if there were serveral versions of each plan at the same time. I noticed the quick service was slightly different too- no refillable cup.
The virgin rep was very interested when i told her it was different-i mentioned the extra snack and no dessert. I alsomentioned the Disboard and said the changes were putting people off (those who had to pay anyway)
will see what she has to say.

may be worth posting on the restaurant section.
see what the Americans think.:goodvibes

i just noticed youve already posted in the restaurant section.xx

:confused3i got a few different brochures today. theyve all got the 'new' dining plans in except some only have 1 snack listed.

It looks to me as if they are changing the Dining Plan for 2011 and that Virgin have the 'heads up' as their brochure is published earlier than most
It's cool with me as I had to book for specific dates and fee dining was a nice bonus :thumbsup2
However, it is very clear that Disney are cutting back and charging more :sad2:

To be honest i wouldnt miss the dessert but my son and husband will. however we have to remember for us it will be free. With the extra snack we'll prob buy loads of fudge to take home.
When the virgin rep looked on the Disney site for info, it stated that the current dining plan was only until the end of this year. hopefully she'll get back to us. if not i'll prob email Virgin, like others have said on the restaurant board- nice to know what we are actually getting :thumbsup2

Id be miffed if id paid and it was more but less value.

They change the plan every year, and unfortunately, for the worse every time. We've done dining plan stays in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Every year has been different.

2007: Full Dining Plan (as there was only one available then) available for stays at ALL Disney Resort Hotels, including the values. You got the full plan of 1xsnack, 1xCS and 1xTS. Grats and tax were included, and you got appetizer, main meal and dessert for the TS.

2008: Full Dining Plan available for stays at Moderate and Deluxe resorts only - values the plan was no longer available for free (think you could still pay to add it on). Still the same full plan - 1xsnack, 1xCS, 1xTS, but gratuities were no longer included. Appetizers for the TS were still included, for guests 3-9 only, adult appetizers were gone..

2009: Full Dining Plan available only for stays at Deluxe resorts. Gratuities not included, and they took away the appetizers for TSs too.
Introduction of the new CS Table plan for moderator resorts, where you got snacks and CSs only.

So, it seems only fitting that they remove dessert from the 2010 free dining option really, since there's not much else they can remove this time around! I miss the days when you could stay at Pop, on full dining plan, and get almost anything, anywhere in the world that was under $4 as a snack. Oh how times have changed!

Thankfully, I don't have to worry about this anymore, since we're now DVC and don't get free dining anyway! :rotfl:

In 2008 the appetisers were no longer included. :sad2: We paid for the DDP in May 2008, no appetisers.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. During my first time on the DDP last year, I got sick of eating TS desserts. I felt a lot of them were very similar and I would only pay OOP for really unusual offerings, such as the wonton skewers from Yak & Yeti (). Most of the desserts that came with my CS meals were left untouched, which is obviously just a waste.

While I think I'd prefer the option of two snacks, I won't be happy if they put the price up (although this is probably inevitable :().

If I don't like any changes they bring in (if they do) then I won't do DDP unless it is free. I will rather try and snag a gift card deal if it comes to that or just pay OOP. TBH, on a trip with no DDP I spent HALF of what I did on the DDP. We are light eaters and don't eat meat, burgers, etc, and NEVER dessert more than a couple of times a week if that. Once you take those out of the equation, half the value is gone. Now I do like QSDP and the resort mug is a real deal-maker for us as we use them all the time. If they take that off, that alone will make me reconsider. Interesting discussion.
