New VGF Bridge and Cost of Resale

It’s estimated to be 5-10 minutes more than the Contemporary walkway. Compared to a day walking in the parks, it’s nothing...then waiting in the long lines for boats or monorails. I see people using the new walkway a lot. Some stats here:

if the walkway is only 0.7 miles -- then walking will beat the monorail even without a wait. It takes approximately 15 minutes from MK to GF stop on the resort monorail (when POLY stop is there)...so 0.7 miles would be much faster...especially after fireworks.

I'll gladly push a 2 kid stroller that distance, both ways, to avoid the long waits at the monorail & boat stations. Even in the heat, it's better than sitting around waiting with 3 kids for something to show up.

The cool thing will be watching the Electric Water Pageant from the walkway.

there is not much worse than waiting for transportation home with kids in a stroller. They inevitably fall asleep -- and then (if not on monorail) you have to wake them up, remove all the stuff from the stroller, and collapse it while trying not to delay everyone else. Avoiding busses at the end of the night is the exact reason I own at VGF and BCV. Split stays all the time.

With the construction almost complete or complete. What do people think the resale cost of VGF points will do. BLT was originally the only resort that was in walking distance. Any thoughts on how this will affect either or both of these resale properties?

I think it will create a small bump in demand -- is that bump enough to increase price? Not sure. Time will tell.

And bonus points for using proper affect/effect! #grammarnazi

VGF is one of my favorite resorts especially because of the ability to walk to polynesian for sole whips. I think those who want to purchase VGF will still look to purchase and those who do not this will not sway them them either way. I love the resort but the down side is the high point chart. The walking path is a nice addition for the end of the night after fireworks when monorail and boats are always full.
There is one but....in the covid environment may e a walking path does increase desirability which might impact resale.

I personally prefer Poly over VGF due to theming. Need to do that walk to see how I feel about the walk (as DH would love to add on at Poly; we own at BRV/CCV for our MK resort presently). I have Fibro and CMP, so by the end of the day I am often spent in terms of walking. At the same time, standing around for 20 minutes on pavement is in some ways more agony than walking.

But I do like the theming of VGF more than BLT, though. I had really wanted to buy at BCV or BWV for walkability, but the current price per point even on resale plus expiration gave me pause; we ended up buying into RIV instead for gondolas.

VGC in California, and then our stay at both DLH and Hotel Miracosta in Tokyo Disneyland, have really spoiled us to walking to a park, however, and I confess I've often been tempted to add on to BLT for that reason. But we just love the Wilderness Lodge more, and do enjoy that boat ride even if we hate the wait.

Comments like this are weird to me. Plenty of people work all day on their feet or go to the gym, and five miles of walking over a day is nothing. I mean, I get that isn't everyone, but "not many"? Maybe I'll be the only one on the VGF walkway with my monocle!
I'll join you ... ! We already owned when the news was announced - previously we'd monorail in (and since we are rope droppers, it wasn't horrible), and boat home, but a walk home would be nice too.

Oh: when we bought well before the walkway was announced, BLT was selling/passing ROFR around $35 less than VGF. I thought BLT was undervalued for what it had to offer (it was our first home resort). Now the price differential seems smaller? But I remember in the weeks right after the walkway was announced, there were some very high-priced VGF contracts for sale. ($180+ which seemed a little bananas to me)

This was us as well. We preferred the boats except that one of us (usually me) would be holding a sleeping child and a few bags (stroller contents) while Dad folded and carried the double stroller. Now our oldest is stroller free but I could see one of us pushing a stroller while the other kid and parent get to choose boat or walk. We used to walk to Poly all the time for breakfast on Epcot days, and then walk to TTC to go to Epcot.

we officially ditched the double stroller after last summer. We did carry the single stroller for our trips this year (youngest turned 5 in August), but I am thinking that will be the last time. DD actually did quite well without the stroller for a couple park days during our Summer trip, but I didn't want to completely ditch it for our trip a couple weeks ago b/c we were staying at BCV and using walkway to get to DHS. I figured she'd likely be exhausted by the end of the day, and I didn't want to have to shoulder carry her a mile.

To my surprise -- I ended up pushing an empty stroller most of that pathway back to BCV. Both of my DDs still somehow had enough energy to run back and forth.

The stroller did work well for Epcot on our last day. They were both exhausted by that point, so I pushed them around World Showcase for an hour or so. The only problem with a single stroller is that the oldest wanted to take turns riding the stroller despite not really needing it at all. Fortunately, we only used it for the DHS and Epcot days, and didn't mess with it for DAK or MK.

This was our experience too. They liked the double when they could sit in it and pass the popcorn bucket between the 2 of them.

I'm fortunate in that only one child likes the popcorn...but she will eat it constantly...which with the mask mandate was less than ideal having to stop moving to let her snack.

What was a little funny was that with the Epcot day, they BOTH rode in the single stroller -- with the oldest in the main seat and the youngest sitting if the foot rest. It made it quite heavy to push around and threw the balance off quite a bit that it was actually hard going down the bridges near international gateway due to the side pitch of the bridge. The stroller kept wanting to veer to the inside, so I had to actively push it against the pitch to keep it straight, while also pulling back on it to prevent it from rolling too fast downhill.

Funniest thing that happened was this little girl noticed my DDs' shoes were the same as hers, but then she asked her mom why my (lone) daughter was wearing shoes on her feet and her hands (with the stroller cover down, the girl saw four shoes and assumed that one person was in the single stroller with shoes on feet and hands). I, along with her parents started laughing quite loudly. I then pulled the cover up to expose the "second" daughter.

That is amazing. My almost 5yo will sometimes try to push her big sister, or better yet, she will sit in big sister's lap and ask one of us to push. I haven't minded pushing the stroller as it's part of my WDW workout, and enables me to eat more.

This actually makes PVB more popular to us now. Seems like it would be similar to walking from Beach Club to DHS which isn't terrible at all while still maintaining arguably the best, or similar to Skyliner, Epcot advantage other than BCV/BWV.

There are so many bigger issues, the walkway is nice but it won't have any impact on resale values, which are already among the highest.
I do think the walkway was a contributor to the huge run up in VGF price per point.
